The two Koreas at night. These photos were taken by the astronauts on the International Space Station on Jan. 30. The image shows in its center, a North Korea plunged into darkness between South Korea, down, and China, above. A bit of googling didn't turn up a source, but I've heard it said the first evidence for the North Korean famine back in the 90's was satellite imagery showing the earth turning from green to brown, as people used the grass for food.
