The little DBX that could [Northwestern Passage]

Hellonium Exploiters! Exploders? Explorators! Whatever...

Once upon a time, there was a little Rock Rat that felt left behind.

382214611920571679606.png
Most of his friends had already left and set course for home after an amazing week of party and shenanigans at the other end of the galaxy.
But he didn't wanna go home yet, instead he felt the urge to explore. So he decided to go west as far as his trusty ship the 'Longshot' would take him, to the very end of the Far Galactic Rim.
And he should not be dissapointed by what he found:

It was at about this time, that he came to know one of his Rock Rat friends, Baroness Galaxy, had NOT left yet and was in the same area as him.
So they decided to go on an adventure together! They set out to cross the Abyss as far west as possible!
Their ships did not have the greatest jump ranges (about 34ly) but they were determined, so they started searching for a 'base' as a starting point for their route across and to fill up on Jumponium, which they would desperately need, as the density of stars got lower and lower, the farther south they ventured.
Soon™ they found a promising system, started prospecting it like only Rock Rats could with the help of CMDR Bafaut, who unexpectedly joined, and HOORAY! It was green! Meaning it had all materials available they would need for Jumponium.

They called it 'The Precipice' (Fleckao GH-U e3-0):

Nice find... +1

I hope you guys have better luck getting across... the -2100 to -2400 line is an "ugly" road. :p
edit: and I'm still on it after 2 weeks <sigh>

Good luck to the three of you, that sounds like a lot of fun! I'd join you all if I was't over 13,000 lys west in the THUECHE Nebula, heading for the end of the Scutum Centaurus Arm. I've been monitoring you all in the Discord channel for the NW passage.

The Rock Rat Run

Hellonium Explicators! Explainers? You know who you are!

The little Rock Rat is finally back and got some goodies for you!

491214646126311802580.png
Unfortunately the little fella was left behind once more as his friend BaronessGalaxy had to move on and couldn't help on their adventure across the Abyss anymore.
But that wouldn't stop him!
So after roaming the planets surfaces in The Precipice until he found all the mats he figured he would need with the help of his self-crafted Jumponium Calculator, he hurried after his friends, many of which were already back in the bubble.

491114646125782423432.png
Well, hurrying, as in carefully planning every single jump ahead to not use too much Jumponium but at the same time staying as far west as possible. So he trilaterated every single system he jumped into and had an eye on his Jumponium reserves as he worked his way across the Abyss towards the system which would later become known as "Grey's Relief", the first system he could plot a route of one kylie again and therefore the end of The Rock Rat Run:

49151464614573255475.png

Here is the full list of the "The Rock Rat Run":

My maximum base jump range on fumes was 34,98 Ly (and i basically always jumped on fumes in case i needed this tiny bit of extra range), so in total i used
30 J1
12 J2
10 J3
across 206 jumps in total.
In the end the crossing needed less J3 than i thought, so i could have gone farther west, but i was afraid the last stretch would be very sparse, so i didn't.
It's still a large amount of Jumponium and i actually had to refill my J1s and J2s twice, because most of my 300 mats was reserved for J3 =P
But future explorers with their fancy Engineer upgrades should have by far less trouble.
