The 'logic' of Sol

I ran across this:

Somehow the logic behind this is simply odd. :D

Yeah I'm stuck at this point of the Federation 'campaign' missions. I got the original offer to go to Sol, and thus earned my permit. Now I don't get any other missions from the Feds other than what the OP screen-shotted. Screen shot? Because shot is both a verb and a noun. Damn English, you crazy!

Why?

Just because you have permission to go somewhere doesn't automatically mean the people there trust you.

Well, let me try to explain how I see it.
First, I'm being offered something I already have.
Second, the faction offering me the invitation (to give me something I already own) is telling me that they do not trust me enough to give that which they desire to give me.
In Summary: The reward is redundant. And that which is special about it is that they do not wish to give it to me due to the fact that they don't trust me enough... uhm to give it to me. :D

This doesn't fail a basic logic analysis in your point of view? (rhetorical question)

Sounds like the UK government is in full control in 3300 :/

It gets worse. If you don't already have the permit, you get the mission to meet the representative in the system for which the permit is being offered. But in order to go to that system for the meeting, you immediately get a permit. Which negates the purpose of the meeting, and makes the mission instantly unavailable.
:S

As far as I know this has happened to everyone who has the Achenar permit.

Just one of the many little quirks of the mission engine, but one which is particularly glaring given the importance of some of those permits. Those of us who've come up through alpha/beta have seen this sort of thing many times and basically ignore it as long as the underlying mechanisms are working, like Cypher looking at Matrix code. But for Mercenary and post-release buyers it must be very confusing.
