The Long Arf - An Expedition by the Hull Seals

The Long Arf - An Expedition by the Hull Seals

Greetings, CMDRs!

Thanks to the tremendous success of the Hull Seals Fleet Inititiative, the Seals are proud to announce The Long Arf expedition!

About the Expedition

The Long Arf is an expedition by the Hull Seals, centered around the deployment of the first of our three Fleet Carriers to the Ryker's Hope region of the galaxy, at Distant Worlds 2 Waypoint 9, an homage to the trip that gave rise to our organization. This carrier, HSRC Limpet's Call, the flagship of the Seal fleet, will be our organization's galactic headquarters and our home. In support of Fleetcomm's Deep Space Support Array, the carrier will take up station on the highway between Beagle Point and Sagittarius A*.

The expedition will launch from the furthest carrier dock in the black, at Colonia, and head galactic north toward deployment, via Odin's Hold in a challenging voyage of logistics, exploration, scientific research, and camaraderie. The journey will be marked with a narrative journey, including the introduction of the whole crew of the HSRC Limpet's Call, and the adventures as she journies through the stars to her home, and exploring the broad field of activities available within Elite: Dangerous. These activities include fighter jousting (held outside travel PGs), SRV exploration, canyon racing, High-Gravity Landing competitions, mass-jumps, and more!

The Route

The route will go north-east toward the galactic core, hitting several points of interest before heading galactic north through the western neutron fields in the Odin's Hold region.

I won't be able to join this since DSSA deployment calls me to the other side of the galaxy, but once that is all done I'll make sure to pay your new Home a visit!

Just under 60 days to go until we launch - Looking forward to seeing what the new changes to Carriers mean.

The route's been fully plotted and all systems should be go for the launch!

Interested in what “narrative journey” means, in particular whether this is a collaborative endeavour!
Basically, and I can't spoil too much, but there is an in-game storyline we're trying to make - and yes, individual participants will be able to help mold that storyline!
--------

To clarify a question I've been asked - you don't need to be a Seal to join the expedition! All are welcome to join, be you a Seal or not. We will also have opportunities to be trained as a Seal if people wish both before and during the expedition.

Hoping to make it in time, with the DSSA now, helping with carrier fueling at the galactic core, then off to Beagle Point, after that Colonia.

9 Days Left until The Long Arf gets underway! Hope to see you all there. Thanks to the 90+ (WOW!) of you who have signed up.

There's still time to join, departing from Colonia in just over a week.

A reminder for anyone going on the Long Arf, who missed the Short Arf on Friday, there is a second taxi service.

HSRC Arf Mechanicus will be departing Katuri at midnight UTC tonight (Tuesday) for Colonia. Bring as many ships and modules as you want, from any platform you want.

ETA probably some time late Thursday.

All passengers are advised to stay on the Carrier until arrival at Colonia! If you get left behind because you left the ship at a cooldown stop, the Carrier is not coming back for you!

One Day Remains.

To all CMDRs partaking on The Long Arf:

We will be doing a mass-jump meetup coinciding with the carrier's initial jump to our first waypoint on July 6th, 3306, at 1900 UTC (That's In-Game Time, 3 PM Eastern US).

That's TOMORROW!

The meetup will begin at around 1 PM Eastern (1700 IGT), with cascade-winging in members to the same instance. We ask that CMDRs NOT BE DOCKED with the Carrier if they plan to attend, as we will execute a mass-jump toward the first waypoint directly alongside (just outside of mass lock range) of the carrier. The meetup will be in the Fleetcomm private groups, or appropriate groups for console. The carrier will remain in position in Colonia until the jump.

The meetup is scheduled to happen on all three platforms, and we will also be in voice in The Long Arf's discord server.

Can't make it? That's OK! We'll be streaming the meetup to the Hull Seal's Twitch Page!

Let's see what's out there, CMDRs.

For anyone interested there is a Moon in Rykers Hope I believe about 4k from your location (short hop in Neutron star jumps) in the system AEMONZ NU-L C22-184 moon c2 that possesses the tallest mountains to be found in the known Galaxy. A rocky moon but the mountains are made of Ice that spire straight up to over 30 k in height with the possibility to land on at least one of them.
If your bubble of exploration ever ventures close by it is worth a visit.
If you are in VR then the views are spectacular.

Fly safe
