The long Cobra journey

Good on you I'm just about to step back out into the void again this time in a mkiv, just come back from over 10kly in my mk3.

All to often is all about big ships and big budgets, nice to see yours is not.

I made it to Beagle Point in my mkIV last week as part of DWE.

It's a great exploration ship. Low jump range is the only downside, but it's no problem if you're not in a rush.

Have to say I wasn't taken by the Mk IV - too slow for my taste, so although it's slightly tougher it's not as safe as the Mk III. More versatile, though. Good to see people exploring in them.

I'll take a Cobra MK III on in my Cobra MK IV any day :p

Indeed - when the Mk IV was released a friend and I tried them out for a few mock combats, and the Mk IV had the upper hand, though it wasn't much of a scientific test. But a fight between a Mk III and almost any other ship lasts only as long as the Mk III pilot wants it to last, 'cause they're the fastest hunks of junk around and can leave when they want.

Though I had an interesting encounter earlier with a pirate in a stealthy Diamondback Scout over at the Altair community goal - the DBS being almost as fast as the Cobra, and much more maneouverable, I had to high-wake to another system to get away in my smuggling Mk III. Would have been an interesting fight in a Mk IV - I think you'd need to be very used to the handling of the ship to have a chance against a low-heat DBS.

I must give the Mk IV another try, though. :)

I can say the boast speed and the less speed does make it a little harder to run away but it can still out run most ships and take the beating. but in a close quater dog fight the extra gun and armour makes it much more worth it. not mention to explore in it is easier. I did enjoy my Cobra MK III will it lasted but I had to sell it for my new Cobra MK IV :p
I hope they make a Cobra MK V XD
