The Long Journey Back Home... After Three Years

Hi guys,

I'm bubble bound after a journey to Beagle Point a few years ago, and still on the other side of the galactic core. Obviously a lot has changed since, and I don't seem to be able to discover any planets anymore. I tried to find some answers here, but not sure how far I'd have to dig back on the forums.

I still honk, but nothing much is revealed. Do you need the full spectrum scanner for that now? Which I don't seem to have. Looking like it might be a boring journey home.

A few dings on HMS Rubber Ducky, but for the most part it's still holding together pretty well.

Welcome back towards civilisation! Lots of changes - best to read the forums and Patch Notes first. You need FSS honk and then DSS to locate and then detail-scan bodies. Much easier than it used to be. Love the paint job.

Ok figured it out. Once again the game kept urging me to shut it down and uninstall it, but I preserved!!!

Not sure about easier as it doesn't allow you to have a look at what you got a glance after your honk. Seems like another intended time sink, but I do quite like it. Hopefully it won't get boring too quick.

I've noticed I can still quickly drop the throttle down and enter FSS and take a look at the signals on the spectrum to see what I'm dealing with at a glance. Rock, ice, water, ammonia, etc. Nifty.

Only 46K LYs to Sol now. Nearly there.

In the very beginning I didn't like the FSS either. Due to the same reasons you've mentioned (couldn't see any longer the planet-pictures). But that changed quickly after I learned how to use the actual spectrum. Since then I discover more planets, since I don't need to fly there any longer and I never would have flown to all the ice planets I scan now.

You can also MAP planets now. I guess you have packed the DSS all these years ago. That will give you more credits and a 2nd tag at a (mapped) planet. You probably have to bind some keys though.

May I ask why you've been away for such a long time?

Oh man!! I been in the black for the past year. Took a break a few times from the game as well. Went to see SAG A* and now finally made it to colonia. I think ill sit here for a while and do these engineering missions. Then return to the bubble to see if anything is poppin there. I really wish i can jump between the pc and xbox. I got a killer gaming pc, and dont even mind buying the game, definitely refuse to start from scratch. I wish i can jump between it and my xbox one x with my profile.
