The long trip to Asellus B.

New player here. On a trade route back to the Eranin system I stopped in the Asellus A system. I had never been to the Asellus B system so I decided to go. The problem is that B is .17LY from A. My Sidewinder will only travel in super cruise for that jump and not the the full frame shift speed thingy.

I ran in super cruise for a few minutes toward B without even making a dent in the .17LY distance.

Do people normally travel to this system? How long does it take to get there in super cruise?

PS: I'm really loving this game and can't wait to see what experiences are added later.

Yeah, people have done this. I've read it would take between 30 or 40 minutes to get there. Speeds of around 1500 C where reached if I remember correctly. You even get interdictions being that far away from home, which seems a bit odd to say the least. I might go there in time, maybe on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Given enough time supercruise will gradually reach a very fast clip indeed. I think I got it up to 1700c in Premium Beta just skylarking around toward an unknown signal source they placed way the heck out in the beyond.

There's no station or anything out there, correct? Just a destination on the nav screen? .17 LY is about 5.36 million light seconds away, so going at 2000c if that's the max would take you about ~2700 seconds/45 minutes to reach. Actually it'll take longer because you only accelerate until the halfway point, then you slowly decelerate. Figure an hour at least one way.

Thanks for the responses. I figured it was quite a haul to get there. Maybe they should put something really juicy out there to entice pilots to make the trip. :)

There is something juicy there: Something only you and a few other really patient travellers will get to see: Asellus B.

I just started playing a couple days ago but this is something id like to check out, maybe even tonight :) im still in a sidewinder and have only about 4k CR lol so not a whole lot to lose..

Same here, although with a bit more cash. Saving up for a hauler. I tried some of the high profit trade routes in the central systems for a while, but found myself wondering what was going on further away. Now I'm in Chi Centauri, looking for stuff to buy and new places to go.

I might go back and do the Asellus B run at some point too. So much exploration to do...

Edit* well I just tried it and was stopped and destroyed and then again I tried and was almost destroyed lol..definitely worth doing as a team
