The longest day

I was conducting my usual sweep of the Aulin nav beacon in my modified Viper last night. Came across a few bounties in a Cobra, and a couple of haulers. Small fry mainly, but credits are credits.

Then lo and behold a worthy bounty showed up: a heavily modified Anaconda with a 60k bounty on his head. A fur ball ensued, which turned into a very lengthy drawn out game of cat and mouse. 10 minutes later, multi cannon all gone, Anaconda down to 5% hull, both engines down, shield and power generator destroyed, I then continue maneuvering and chipping away with the potty little pulse lasers I have left. After another 10 minutes of shifting power between thrusters, shields, and weapons, the Anaconda finally implodes and that 60k is all mine. Over 20 minutes engaging a single target, and it was a great fight!

So commanders, what was the longest engagement you have had with a single target?

So commanders, what was the longest engagement you have had with a single target?

Anacondas are pretty tough targets for sure. I usually target the power plant and when that hits 0 the Anaconda pops although its still around 60% hull strength then :D

Repairs about 1k, ammo 5k, fuel 400 cr, so adecent profit. I was dreading the final bill, but it wasn't bad thankfully (the damaged system's were all the anaconda, I got off light with 80% hull left)

I think the longest fight I have had was when I was still bounty hunting in an Eagle.

I picked a fight with a Sidewinder and then two of his friends decided I was on their hit list. One of them was in another Sidewinder ,unfortunately the other one was a Dangerous Cobra pilot with two railguns and two pulse lasers.

I managed to take down the both the Sidewinders quite quickly with my twin multicannons and pulse laser whilst avoiding most of the Cobra's fire. He did take my shields down and a good chunk of hull on two occasion leaving me with about 30% hull.

Anyways, my multicannons ran dry after only a few minutes as I had been bounty hunting for a while so am left with just the pulse laser to slowly whittle down the Cobra.

It took me twenty minutes of slowly chipping away, avoiding being hit (mostly), and plenty of power management and evasive maneuvering to finally kill him.

I left the fight with 2% hull left and no canopy!

I headed back to the nearest station as fast as I could and docked with about thirty seconds of oxygen left! After repairs I cashed in my bounties then went and had a good glass of whisky to celebrate a tense and above all fun fight! :)

Had a similar encounter with a Conda , which lasted nearly as long, I love the way there are mini explosions in it's hull all the way through the battle, it's most impressive if you close enough to see it.

Back during Beta 1 I couldn't fly my own Sidey due to my pc having issues but I was able to play using my brother's cobra.

I got to Eranin and entered the low intensity combat zone near Eranin 2 (I think it was that 1. might have been the 1 above Chango) and I was fighting against a bunch of Fed sideys and cobras. My brother's cobra was pretty well outfitted at the time so I wasn't having any problems against them. Then a small group of player (2 vipers 2 cobra and a conda) popped up and all joined the federation side. I think I was the only Eranin player in a cobra. Everyone else (3 or 4) were in vipers.

I thought 'hey it's not my ship' and went straight for the Conda. The other players took on the others and wrecked each other a few times but for me and the conda, fight went a good 20 mins. Ran out of muticannon ammo and we both got each other down to about 10% hull. I was sure I could still take the conda if the fight stayed 1 on 1 but it didn't. 2 vipers both on different sides jumped in, stole my kill on the conda and, popped my brother's cobra while I was trying to get to hyperspace.

I was mad but only about the fact that I couldn't finish that fight. I haven't had a chance to fly a cobra in combat since then because I've been in japan since then.

To the Anaconda Pilot who ever you are: Good fight. Most fun I've had in the game so far. Arigatou Gozaimasu
