The Lost World Pteranodon Species.

Hello all, I'd like to talk about adding the Lost World Pteranodon species to the game at some point. It's by far the most life-like of it's type that we've seen in the franchise so far. Interestingly, what appeared physically in the film is nothing like what appeared in the art for TLW or even the in-film Dinosaur species list Tembo carried (unless the physical animal in the film is female and therefore sexually dimorphic). The animal that actually appears in the film is definitely far and away a better design.

This is the highest resolution photo I could find of it from the end of the film.
In it you can just make out that it's eyes are very unique. This really adds to the realism of the animal. It's eyes are almost like an Elephant's, with two shades of yellow or tan making up the sclera and iris, the iris being the darker shade. The pupil is small. The overall appearance gives it a scared, wild look.

The eye socket features a small dark ring surrounding the eye too. And the eye itself seems to turn down towards the rear of it's head.

It's nostrils seem to be on top of it's beak and to the rear where that raised area is. A dark line goes from that area down the top-length of it's beak.

As for the rest, it's head, neck and back are a stunning aqua blue shade and it's wings, beak and crest are tan with some black on the wing's undersides.

Five toes with one rear-facing. Three fingers. And a webbed, bat-like tail.

Long, swan-like neck.

As for it's size, it seems to be about half the size of the JP3 Pteranodons.

It also sounds amazing.

It's one of my favourite designs from the entire franchise, though it only appeared for a moment.

Hey, they took the time to add the JP3 Brachiosaurus and even remodel it, though that only appeared for a moment too. I really hope they plan on releasing maybe a Pterosaur pack (Dimorphodon and JW Pteranodon could be the two other species) and put the same care and attention to detail into this animal. I really love it.

Luckily for you a leak has confirmed that the Pteras coming tomorrow have a TLW-inspired skin. Not a full remodel, but it's more than I was expecting at all. :D

The TLW alpine skin on the JP3 pteras we're getting is a nice nod. But the real problem with the JP3 pteras are the teeth. They are also not what would have been in the parks. The TLW version is what likely would have been present in the original park. Having the TLW version in the avairy would have been more lore accurate since the DLC takes place after the first film, not the third. The JP3 Pteras would likely not even have existed yet.

Yeah, Pteranodons certainly were a nice surprise. Still, the JP3 monsters just aren't very aesthetically pleasing at all. And the JW Pteras are even uglier, which I never thought possible.

Yeah, I was curious as to why they were the design they chose at all, when JW's Pteras have far more screen time, come from the film the game is inspired by and have more readily available references literally everywhere. I figured if they did add Pteranodons, they'd add the latest design. The fact they didn't caused me to assume that because the DLC is dealing with the past, you wouldn't have the latest design from JW. But you are correct that JP3's design is also not that old and would not have been put on display in Jurassic Park either.
