The many Voices of Elite Dangerous

Hi Commanders, Muetdhiv3r signing in...

Can another commander help me understand how the Voices are working in Elite Dangerous ?
I run the French version of the game if that makes a différence.

I did discover I can select a COVAS, there is a choice of many, includig différent languages, in the "ship" menu of some stations.
That is OK. The COVAS voices are great and I can have my ship to talk German to me if I want to, wich is a nice touch ! :)
But then, when I go and open the Galnews, I can send news to be read in a playlist : The voice then is NOT the COVAS, it's a generic and boring voice.

So my questions are :
  • Can I get the COVAS to be used for any "voice related service" of the game ?
  • If not, where can I select and set up the Voice wich is reading the Galnews ?

Bonus question :
I tried ED Discovery with the Voice pack v11 to tell me some extra info about systems, etc.
It's working, but I get an english Voice reading French sentences. So it speaks in a way that is obviously not intended...
It actually sound pretty stupid and my wife makes fun of me, wich is inapropriate, to say the least.

Either the wife or the voice screams for a proper set up...
As I obviously wont risk to break the fragile equilibrium I manage to get regarding the former, maybe I can at least do something about the Voice pack ?
Where do I set this up guys ?

Thanks a lot Commanders,

COVAS is pre-recorded sound bytes. Galnet is Text-To-Speech. They haven't come up with a T2T with specific accents yet. I think ED Discovery uses Windows T2T.

As said: COVAS is prerecorded performances, Galnet Audio is text-to-speech voice synthetisis.

BUT: Galnet Audio is available in "English, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese " (source: ED 3.0 Beyond Chapter One patch notes) so you can hear it dans la langue de Molière (coucou je suis un français moi aussi :) )

I tested Galnet Audio in french, and of course it's not perfect and sounds little less lifelike than the english one bit it does the job.

Check the ingame settings, the language selection should be hiding somewhere. Or maybe it's tied to the language set in the ED Launcher.

Thank you guys !!
I understand now that the COVAS and Galnet audio are two complete separate features.

BUT: Galnet Audio is available in "English, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese " (source: ED 3.0 Beyond Chapter One patch notes) so you can hear it dans la langue de Molière (coucou je suis un français moi aussi :) )
I'll try the english one.
(Actually I would try to set the whole game in english, as everything in the community is english and I always need to translate between English forum and in game French. Not always obvious, like the "limplets" are "drones" in French, "Hardpoints" are "Points d'emports", etc.)
Ultimately, what I would like is to select the voice or add effects to the voice but it seems it's "built in" so there is no options to do so, at least for now.
I could also just use my eyeballs MK1 to read during long trips ! :)

... not to be too much of a pain but it is langeuer - ;)
Actually my friend it's langueur ! :)
But I never want to hear the Galnet audio to read this sentence !

to the boats soon to pick up any stranded brits after leaving fortress Europa (I have a strange feeling of dejavu today or was it yesterday?) 😉
