The market does not work like it should be

I don t understand these missions requiring X and not being able to look at the market and see where it is available
If station 1 is in need of X and asks you to provide some you should be able to look at the galactic market and see where that commodity is and if it is worth it to take the time to fly there and back...
At the moment I don t get it, its 3300AD and there still isn t a galaxy wide communication system, makes little sense to me honestly.

I am mentioning this more in the sense of immersion versus easiness of play. I understand the fun of hunting for certain commodities and having to find them but I would expect in 3300AD to have humanity mastered communications and be able to relay data even if it is from ships only. For example the exact same data that is shared with cartographics could also include market data even if it is a little dated because it had to be flown from 10 systems away.

The point is that these cargo missions are not appealing whatsoever because I have no idea where to go and because I honestly feel like the market should work like eve, or at least I hope it will one day

Comments?

I guess when you learn where things are the game becomes that much easier.
Pretty much part of the game, so go fish.
You kinda have to make notes as to where some things are available as you travel.

But that system is not integrated into the market...you have to get out of the market and back to your ship's map

If it is accessible to your ship then that data should also have been shared with the station as you docked/approached and populated the market screen to show where those goods can be found
I feel the logic of having to use two different screens, one being part of the universe/game and the other one more like a map filter.

I know this is not a mmo in the same sense as EVE but I hope it could become one and I feel this would help

But you can. And they do. They do.

1. In the market, they'll tell you where that item is imported from. Right hand side, where the item description is.
2. The galaxy map - you can set it to show trade routes, where you can filter down to specific item if you wish. If you can't see much (you haven't been in the nearby systems in the last 24 hrs) you can buy this data - as long as you are docked in a station. (called trade data (woooo) and with a different setting, you can even filter which system's trade data is available for you to buy at that specific station)

Yeah, I guess I agree, when you learn where things are the game becomes that much easier :D

On the right:

Not every station imports/exports everything so some don't have data.
