Ah, today's events are deeply moving, and just when the new Marlinist republic were about to reveal their flag, and I've got to say that once you know the back story to its design, it is inspired:
Simple, yet pretty, with a poetic backstory to it...
In december 3306, they only scored tier four out of five on the Sirius Corporation funded CG aiming to build them an enclave/exclave. In that initiative, each "tier" secured the marlinists an additional pair of stars systems to call their own, and in them build thier enclave/exclave... Of the 5 pairs that were within grasp, they "only" got eight systems, but that was still eight star systems, awarded in 4 pairs, amongst the stars. By marking the four tiers, denoting eight systems, that they secured in four pairs of colours reminiscent of 21st century "printer" primary pigment colours, from which any colour combination could be rendered on the ancient medium called paper, they showed that amongst the stars, they, as Marlinists can make anything. And the two outer white rings? Lest they forget that nothing gets handed to them, the uncoloured two are the "ones that got away".
I've got to say, that even as a "dyed in the chenille" imperial renegade, the story and sentiment behind the design of the Marlinist flag that was due to be unveiled today is tugging at my heartstrings... It's poetic.

Now I think their flag is prophetic:
