The idea behind this thread is to build a library of player made videos, that can be available to download and to swap with Elite's default background videos. You can customise your HUD, why not your menu background?*
Currently the video you see behind the menu when you first load the game is a webm video file, that can be found and located within the games directories. By swapping or adding video files to the corresponding game mode's file name you change what is played on loading up the game.

For users....
*First and foremost... Back up any files and make records of original filenames. A full reinstall will remedy any mistakes (possibly a verify of game files, unsure yet!), but nobody needs to go through that.*
Step 1: For use of the new background, browse and find a video you wish to use and download from the description in the video.
Step 2: After backing up original files, move the new file to....
Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-64\Movies
Step 3: Rename the new file to 'FrontEndX' replacing the X with they corresponding letter for the gamemode you wish to customize.
FrontEnd0=base game
FrontEnd1=Horizons
FrontEndA=Arena when selected from the launcher.
the extension must be .webm but if filename extensions are hidden you are good as long as the file downloaded was webm.
Step 4: Run Elite as you always have and enjoy the new custom made content.

Add your entry in this format, please.
DESCRIPTION: Give a few keywords, make it personal if you like. Tags like Combat, Exploration, SRV, Fun, PvP, Crew, Ship (NAME), Gank, RES, Station, Alien.
IN GAME/CUSToM: Y/N
LOOP: Y/N
WEBLINK: Provide a link to a YouTube/Vimeo/etc. video demo of your creation, preferably with the Menu Text intact. Spoiler tags on the forum are appreciated. Include the hosted file link in your description.
*Add your download link to the video in the video description.
*Do not include audio in your video, it only adds to loading times, possibly errors and will never be heard.
*Content must be in webm format.

Right now I am on a train and unable to verify full details of the properties for videos, any checks on the following criteria would much helpful.
*Known file size limits... Early content was heavily compressed, leading me to believe a limit should be included, restrictions may of been lifted.
*Resolution... Scaling is automatic, 16:9 format is recommended. Any observations? Optimum resolution?
*Length... Default videos are looped in the 30 second region, instinct tells me size is most important, as auto loop is enabled.
