the merits of various craft in combat - our experience

Recently i scaredly tried the diamond back ....

vulture and an eagle space craft versus a diamondback..

elite is quite the challenge at times & that is one of the things that maintains our interest.

https://youtu.be/am0BFOcDSIk - the diamons back is a scary low shield ride but at the same time a versatile exciting craft to have ... i kind of like it really :)

the vulture hits largely the shields to death and i have to say buying a vulture is a no brainer when it comes to classy combat ships; however id say it can be beat :)

the viper is a legend i absolutely love the craft ! (but the vulture can actually be quite the challenge to beat with it - we love challenge ;-) don't we Elite fans)

my brother prefers the alternative cobra .. as we kinda compete i obviously didn't get one haha :p but that too has good combat and cargo abilities !

(not got a video of it in action though) do have one of the eagle in PvP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAID-ZyLv_I

the imperial eagle ... pretty darn good ! but two problems - can't join war zones - and ? while oh my god ! so agile and to be frank deadly ...
again my chances of taking down a seriously big ship in it where non existent ...
but i did manage a viper - some cobras and obviously lower...

so potentially a dam good ghost ride.

those are my views of the fighter class ... what are yours ? (and obviously bigger ships)

Small: I really like the DBS, it's probably my favorite small ship in the game. Near perfect hardpoint placement, great maneuverability, and I love the general style and cockpit aesthetics.

Medium: The Python wins it over for me. Again, flawless hardpoint placement, beautiful style and layout, and if you need a thing done, the Python can do it. Sure, it's not the best fighter / hauler / explorer, but it can do all of those reasonably well.

Large: I'm torn between the Anaconda and Corvette. The Anaconda is the swiss army knife of the void and can do just about anything very, very well. The Corvette though, I love the Core Dynamics styling and the dual C4 hardpoints. 2.1 has given the Corvette a new lease on life with the new C4 weapons, and it is a joy to bring into a conflict zone.

But, if I could only have one ship in the game and never touch another, I would have to go with the Python. For me, it's the total package.

Fun post OP :)

Got to disagree with you on the Imperial Eagle... been in a Combat Zone (High Intensity on my own) with one, and taken down Cutters. So definitely ok with big ships!

The way to survive in a small ship is never to slow down, the blue zone is a minimum throttle setting. When attacking the big ships, stay behind them, don't get caught by their big guns.

Personally I don't like the DBS, but that's my choice!

Cobra is a good all round ship, but the best small fighter ship is, without doubt, the Vulture.

The ultimate fighters are the FAS and the FDL, but they require a bit more credits, but are well worth it. Whether you prefer one or the other is personal taste, but my preference is the FDL.

The Imperial Courier is also very handy too, and can sit in Combat Zones for long periods, taking out anything that gets thrown at it.

As far as the big ships are concerned, I have a personal loathing of the Anaconda (jack of all trades and master of none), but I guess it is liked by some. The Cutter and Corvette are both interesting, but at preset, I'd back my FDL against either. Whether that will change in 2.1, we will see!
