I guess I need to be more active in the forums. I wasn't aware FD has stated that explorers will want to be armed in the future (I would assume that Thargoids will be the reason). I've been able to avoid being armed up to this point because, until recently, I've spent ALL my time WAY out in the deep, completely avoiding any contact with anyone whatsoever...in other words, a true explorer. Now that I'm in the Colonia systems, getting the lay of the territory, I've avoided conflict by quickly submitting to interdiction and jumping back into FTL before anyone can hurt me.
