Horizons The mission board is still garbage, what the hell are you doing?

My last topic was largely ignored by you lot, including the devs.

What will it take for you guys to address the issue? What do we need to do for you to acknowledge there is a problem?

I just spent the last two and a half (that's right, TWO AND AN HALF) hours sitting in station, changing instances, going to different systems, and changing instances, trying to get my rank up missions. For the past week or so, I've been doing missions non stop. I was a Petty Officer when I started. I hit 100% relatively quick, and have been there ever since. Just last night I got the FIRST of my rank up missions. It instantly put me at 100% Chief Petty officer. I continued with my missions.

I decided today to stop grinding rank, and get the missions to show where I'm at. Two and a half hours later, I'm playing Eve Online because your mission board is broken.

Fix this, now. it is ridiculous. It is unacceptable. It is BORING.

Then don't grind for ranks. Plenty of other ships of use.

I was prepared for dumb suggestions, but not for this.

Lets see. Lets say you are hungry. You want a warm meal, but the stove doesn't work. So, instead of fixing the stove, or eating your meal raw, you eat something else, that you don't enjoy as much as a warm meal.

Do you see the problem with your reasoning?

I Have no idea what is the problem, but have not encountered it myself.

I have been ranking up with the feds just fine.
I took mostly federal military/combat missions. I remember some Dev saying that that would work best.
When reaching 100% I encountered diverse rank-up missions quite regularly, but had no time to do 'm.
They popped up all over the place until I finally took one and then I got promoted.

All these missions were called Naval missions and did not in any way tell me that they were a rank-up mission. Only the word "Naval" betrayed it.

It turned out that other military missions I took before that counted towards the next rank after that and I am now 50% towards the next rank too without even realizing it.

Have you tried to find the rank-up mission in another fed system?
They are not always there and different fed factions offer them at different times.
The faction giving them is not at all always the ruling faction.

Wrong. How do you know you will.like those ships if you have never flown them before?

It's more like there is some food I cannot get that I don't know how it tastes, and there is some food I can get and taste, but I will starve instead.

And how exactly did you come to this conclusion?

Not at all. So, you don't actually see the problem with your logic. I guess that's that with our discussion.

No issues with my logic. It's 100% correct. Navy rank is only useful to get certain ships and maybe some permits. Unless you have flown these ships before, you do not know if you will enjoy flying them. Is this not correct.

There are other ships available that you can try out and fly.

Not getting the rank is annoying but not the end of the world. No reason to stop playing when there are other ships you can use.

Sorry but I cannot see the massive issue. People like to make a mountain out of a mole hill on these forums. Also the original post was very confrontational and got what it deserved.

So what if there are other ships available? How is that relevant to the mission board being busted? Why does it matter if I have or haven't flown every single other ship in the game? I'm sorry I intruded into your safety zone. Your argument is full of assumptions, and you got what you deserved.

You are ignoring the irrefutable fact that the mission board is broken, and is preventing me from progressing on the game. Anything you have to say in regards to anything else, is irrelevant, for the simple fact that you are making assumptions.

How is the mission board being broken not a massive issue? You do realize where missions come from, right?

You ARE aware that new players do missions as their initial means of income, correct?

They do?

I didn't even look at a bulletin board til I had been exploring and trading for a few weeks / months :D

This exactly.

I had made my first few millions trading, working my way up thru the smaller ships over the course of a number of weeks before I even considered clicking on the Mission Board.

It is not the first thing a player does.

And btw, the mission board is quite fine IMO, even better than it was before the patch as far as payouts and numbers of missions offered goes. Hell I made 25-30 million over the course of the afternoon/evening yesterday during some on and off playtime without even trying.

That doesn't sound too broken to me.

Then again, I have been King and Admiral for over a year now so that aspect doesn't even affect me. LOL

Hey, not everyone conforms to the norm ;)

I, too, started by going out of station and exploding a few times before I even bothered with the missions

Running missions is one of the worst ways for a newbie to start out. Anyway just a thought, nobody replied to your previous topic because a problem doesn't exist.

Really? I found it to be a good way to learn the ropes. It wasn't until I was more accustomed to how the game worked that I decided to focus on bounty farming RES sites for a while.

Just to be contrary: I started out doing a few data and cargo missions until I could get into a Cobra mk III. Then I traded and ran missions until the exploration bug bit me. First trip netted me enough credits for an Asp Explorer. Second netted me enough to kit out a Python for rare trades then mining whilst keeping the Asp. Third one enough to kit out an FDL and keep the other ships. Exploration CGs helped.

Now I am back running missions to rank up the feds and, well, play the game. See no reason for instance changing, but I will search round for systems with favourable configurations of factions.

Whatever is bugging OP it seems mainly to be impatience and bad temper. Just relax and enjoy the game. Do something else if the ranking up feels like the wrong kind of grind.

Mission selection is terrible for a newbie in a sidewinder. Bounty hunting and RES farming is defintely not a good way for a newbie to start :) You want a good combination of credits and rep earning potential. Salvaging is a fast way to earn early credits and build rep, once you get a half decent cargo bay run some delivery missions to get allied.
