Horizons The mission board is still garbage, what the hell are you doing?

I take back what i said about broken mission board. now after a few days, everything's back to normal. plenty of missions popping up again. maybe it was all just background sim.

Except the correct context would be in response to "Chocolate is garbage!". Just because you have an issue with it doesn't make it "garbage".

Except if we're talking about a systemic issue, which is actual context of this smoldering wreckage of a thread. If "it's not happening to me" is invalid, then so too is your "it's happening to me!". And since you're claiming the system is broken, anyone is completely free to chime in that their experience is otherwise - I'm sorry if that rattles your China.

I could honestly not blame anyone for ignoring your thread. The entitlement is thick and your attitude is toxic. Nothing you've said is constructive.

Of course you couldn't. This game is the greatest thing that has happened to you, and how dare anyone say it needs to improve, right?

I am entitled. This is a product I paid for, and it doesn't meet the expectation set by the developers, which is what convinced me to pay for it in the first place. I welcome you to the concept of "accountability". You should use it some time, it is your right, after all.

But please, instead of telling me how toxic and entitled I am, how about you find instances that proves, without a doubt, that the mission board is working as intended? As in, instance swapping yields the same populated mission board, rank up missions are readily available, instead of piling up 6 ranks in a week and a half's time without being able to rank up, no failure to retrieve the mission lists, missions not autofailing instantly, etc.

But wait, before you do, the devs recognize there is an issue on it, as per my ticket's response:

"The problem seems to be that there is a special subset of missions that includes permit missions, engineer invites and rank up missions, and you can only be offered one of these at a time. This isn't at all obvious in game. Why? We don't know. There doesn't seem to be a good reason and we here in Customer Support have been pushing for this to be changed.
"
Its hilarious to me that you take this defensive, almost fanatical stance, when the actual team behind the actual game recognizes the problem and offers reassurance. You should follow their model instead, if you claim to support this game like I do.

So please, tell me more.

I'm going to ignore this one too :)

Darn, and here I thought ignore meant not posting on it. You sure showed me!

To rank up Federation , Go to Ceos system and make runs to Sothis only data missions for minor federal faction, then back to Ceos , u can do it with cobra mk3 outfitted for long range . I did it a long time ago and I do not know if it's still relevant but was a little boring.

You will have to get all data missions from stations and outpost to fill up full stack of missions, forget interdictors and run away it's easy with cobra ! ;)

and don't forget cargo space !

Note :
When the rank reaches 100% , it will not change to the next rank quickly, you will have to continue with the missions and it will unlock because the count is not of 100% + 1% to pass to the next rank, but something like 100% + ~ 20% if I remember correctly

Why ceos /sothis !!?
Simple; all data missions are going to the same place A -> B and B -> A , fast and furious but very boring , and it's the price to pay ! [yesnod]

Define "plenty" *g* I think 2-4 missions from a single minor faction in a system populated with 5-6 minor factions is far from "plenty".

If you do not play BGS there are up to 20 missions (+ 20 passenger missions) available. But if you want to support ONE minor faction in a system you only have 2-4 missions (+ 2-4 passenger missions) that you can choose from. Still: Way to low.

It's more like there is some food I cannot get that I don't know how it tastes, and there is some food I can get and taste, but I will starve instead.
that sounds to me a lot like "if you can't eat the food you want, tough luck - you must eat THIS food instead." - actually, no, i'd rather starve, or go to a different kitchen where everything is working and the cupboards aren't jammed shut.

"Play the game YOUR way! ...oops not missions, not THAT way, we didn't mean that way. we meant PvP combat. you need to play that way."

If you really aren't getting fed rank up missions there's a couple of options - 1, There's a bug 2, You aren't actually entitled to the rank up yet - I think some only trigger when you're about 120% over or so 3, You've done something to upset the federation and despite being 100% they're not giving you it because you've upset them (working for the empire or somethings - don't know)

I can understand it's frustrating - but it seems to be an individual issue, so ticket it to see if it's a bug - if it's not then be a good federal (only) citizen for a bit and see what happens - incidentally I haven't done the fed rank up but imperial took an awful lot of time.

I gave up trying to rank a long, long time ago because it was simply boring and the ascension missions are comically bad (Fed Navy wants me to steal clothing? The C64 missions from 198x were better).

And if you don't "choose to grind", progression essentially stops.

fwiw

The issues I was having with the mission board, 'unable to connect to server' and all mission availability being 0/0 have for the last couple of evenings been working ok.

it went from several factions that handed out roughly 6 missions each, one of which would hand out 10-15+.... to pretty much 0/0... after about 3 days, its back to the way it was, plenty of missions and they refresh. I thought it was bugged when everything vanished right before my eyes for days, but it all must be part of the background...

Having read as in skimmed over and bypassed some of the more ‘disconcerting’ posts in this thread perhaps my experience today might shed some light on the problems with the mission board.

I returned to the game today after a long break to see how it was playing before I decided if it was plausible to join some friends in a private group. I installed the game from a fresh download and started a new commander, did the tutorial stuff to check my joysticks were correct then started to play.

I started in Asellus Prime and on checking the mission board found to my horror that all the missions were either beyond my skills (kill missions) or beyond my reach distance wise (up to 35LY). Not a good start, so I turned to the Trading section, check very carefully if the stuff I could buy can be sold (imported) in the system I was flying too. Bought said goods, flew to station and in the time it took to fly 2 jumps the system had gone into lockdown, what!

Tried a few more times and with fuel costs etc ended up with less than 300 credits from a starter of 1000. Gave up logged out, had a coffee, calmed down, and thought ok one last try then it’s back to the ‘nice while it lasted’ game pile.

Started a 2nd new commander, logged in to the same system with the same starting ship and 1000 credits. Checked mission board, and first mission was one jump with some data for 9,000 credits, did the mission and completed with 6300 credits, not bad. Tried a trading run of 3 jumps and made a profit.

So based on the above I would say yes there are problems with the boards, but it may or may not apply to you depending on some sort of random fluctuations in either the code, the state of the game at the time you log in, the name of your commander, or I don’t know. But with two different starts with two new commanders I had a completely different experience each time, why, only the dev’s can tell me.

Oh dear, not a happy camper it seems...

Well my mission board isn't broken. Doing the equivalent for the imperials via WuHIP and having no issues at all. In fact it seems to be working pretty well since the patch

@maxfactor... was born and raised in sittingbourne and used to come to margit for me holidays when i were a nipper. Small world...

Ha, even smaller world, I work in sittingbourne. Anyway, I hope the OP get his issues sorted, if they haven't been already.
