The most lethal DBS in the universe

NPC's are becoming very dangerous (some of the time) - I met a wing of a DBS and a Courier this morning and had to run. Ok - I was flying the Cobra IV but normally I'd expect to take those! I believe these enhanced 'Minions' began appearing over the weekend. Very nasty anacondas and FAS's. Frankly... It's great :)
How did you run? In a Cobra IV? Sorry, I could not resist. :D

I also believe that the pip / heat management for NPC's isn't implemented. So an elite ship fully rated is something to take note. When you have been jumped by an NPC Vuture with two large PA firing forever.... You need to be on your toes.

I was jumped in my cutter by two FDL cmdrs and they didn't give my shields a whole lot to worry about. Got jumped by two elite vultures and I had to SC shortly after cooldown.

My understanding, from FD's statements, is that pip management is implemented, but it seems heat management is not (but will be in 2.1). There's no reason for them to lie about this, the conspiracies in this regard are just silly and childish. (not trying to imply you are suggesting conspiracy, just saying in general)

Ya, thinking about it, beams plus no energy or heat concerns are bad news for cmdrs shields.

And I don't believe the energy/ammo rules apply to NPCs yet.

They were not exceptionally close, but based in what my shields looks like while they were being hit I deduced that one of them was carrying a frag cannon. But at most that's a medium frag, and I've not even seen the large frag on my Vulture do that much to the shield and hull of larger ships.

Frag's a scary thing these days. Wingmate of mine uses them - can nail a 'conda with six shots flat (after the shields are vaped). PA and rails I don't lift an eyebrow at, but being shot with frags rings an alarm.

I've heard recently that frags are actually viable kenetic weapons to use against shields. Your thoughts on this?

Yeah, ammo does not apply to NPC's. Which I think is a big negative, and really makes rail-toting NPC's a lot more dangerous than they would be otherwise.

As for frags, they are AMAZING. I've not used them on shields, but if you can get in close, two large frags are utterly terrifying to unleash on someone. You drop hulls in seconds.

I haven't personally tried them anytime recent, but having witnessed first-hand what they can do... they certain seem to be pretty capable tools.

This has happened to me, even rail Cobras knocking blocks off unexpectedly. A simple lesson learned, always engage the escorts first...

With everything crossed ;)

It's fully A rated so it can out-run big ships using boost to a jumping distance. Small ships you can jump out anyway. Most of my damage comes from wanting to fight ships that Interdict me. Doing that with the new hyperactive Anacondas and Assault Ships was nearly fatal the first couple of times  So far I have survived every encounter...

After run-in's with these nasty's I usually go back later in the Vulture to seek some vengence - It's funny how they never appear when you're in a Vulture! :p
