The mystery of the space doodle nebula

My Fellow commanders, sometimes on a long journey of exploration you run into something you just can't believe. Is it space madness? Does this really exist? These were issues plaguing my friend commander Zannry Arroway as he went out towards the core before heading to Colonia.

So, as luck would have it, I picked up a telepresence request and a message of utmost urgency. "Stop doing what you are doing and get in here, you have to see it to believe it." Well, I myself am well over 14k lightyears from the bubble but in the opposite direction and I could sure use a break from the pitch black void and figured this would be a treat. I had advised him to head towards a small nebula near the core and figured I'd be in for a nice splash of color. Nothing could prepare me for what we saw:

"You are seeing this, right?" was what I was asked when I appeared in the Explorapython he was piloting. Yes, yes I was. So, the question remains... what's going on here?

Let me break this down:
  • https://imgur.com/a/1rUgS Here's the full album of all the screenshots taken.
  • The center of the nebula was explored already, but from there you can't see the unusual markings. No one seemed to want to visit the adjacent systems though...
  • There are two systems 1ly and 1.9lys from the black hole that sits at the center. You can see the markings in both those systems.
  • As such we verified these space doodles on two PCs running different hardware, one on monitors and myself in VR, in two separate systems and they also are in the screenshots. I am ruling out a render glitch.
  • Sure, does it look like they accidentally pasted their nebula texture on concept art doodles they forgot to erase? Yes.. yes it does, but it's in the galaxy now so Frontier has some explaining to do.

We welcome thoughts, theories, and general tomfoolery. Zannry will be by with more details as he has the system name and location.

I've not ever seen it line up quite like that, but this is a result of how nebulae are rendered. Look closely at a few of them in the galaxy map and you'll see artifacts such as those. Doesn't make it any less unique though. I really haven't seen it happen so neatly before.

Clean your windscreen man!

On a more serious note I have seen these before and they do freak you out, its when you start reading messages that you want to worry.
