The negativity

This doesn't mean nobody can say something is wrong or could be better, but hey, a lot of you out there are going way to far, and i mean really really really way to far.

I absolutely agree with you. Which is why I hardly ever read this "General Discussion" topic, which is where all the negativity is. Instead, I spend 99% of my time over in "Community Creations", where everything is a celebration of this wonderful game. That topic and "Suggestions and Ideas", which is also a generally positive topic, are where about 90% of the posts and threads in this whole forum happen. OTOH, you sometimes go for several days without a new post in "General Discussion", mostly because folks have learned that anything said here will attract the negativity mongers.

There are 2 types of person who read these forums:

1. The vast majority, who actually PLAY the game. These folks are always posting in "Community Creations", making helpful suggestions, and quickly answering questions in the "How Do I...?" topic. These folks also make well-documented bug reports, although as the game has improved over time, the number of bug reports has dropped to a trickle. They love the game and are having a great time with it. All of them know the game isn't perfect, and most of them have a list of features they wish the game had, but they don't let this stand in the way of them having a good time with the game as-is.

2. A very vocal minority of folks who for whatever reason don't like the game. They don't seem to play it themselves given that they rarely, if ever, post up their own creations or comment on those of others. This isn't surprising because these folks habitually describe PC as "broken, unplayable", etc. Yet they rarely, if ever, make bug reports or offer suggestions for improvements, they just complain in this topic. It seems as if their whole purpose in life is to discourage new players from getting into PC. They always say they're trying to improve the game, or that only by complaining will things ever get fixed, but their actions (or lack thereof) in other areas of this forum put the lie to that. All these folks seem to do is attempt to put a negative spin on every subject broached in "General Discussion", even complaining about updates that haven't even happened yet.

So basically, this "General Discussion" topic has largely been ceded to the negativity mongers. If you don't want to deal with them, read "Community Creations".

Another thread seems useless

Kinda annoying to see some people immidiately jump in saying you are negative when people point out problems and share their opinions about certain subjects or give constructive criticism.

We are all adults here, behave like it please [heart]

I agree, I didn't get what I paid for !! ...
- I got so much more! I love this game and it's continued support from the dev team. I don't understand the negativity, but saying that, I've not really seen much negativity, the majority of people seem to love it.

I've been playing on and off this week, recovering from surgery so stuck at home, and hate to admit it but I am bored of the game.

I played RCT3 for years and never bored of it. I can play Zoo Tycoon 2 over and over and never tire of it. I don't know what it is as this game is absolutely stunning. I think it might simply be, I'm not creative enough for it. What I try to build doesn't work so I end up using the workshop, which is fine, but just doesn't feel like my own. Maybe it's a game more suited to really creative people, I don't know.
I so wanted to love this game, I even bought a brand new machine specifically to play it, but I just feel flat everytime I load it up. I really don't know why. [bored]

The freedom and extent to which you can build, really is daunting.
Everything in RCT3 was easier to do, because it was simpler, and completely grid based. But I don't remember building things to the extent that I can, and am in PlanCo. The library of parts is daunting as well. I regularly get frustrated not finding a piece I need, and don't have a good enough memory of all the parts to find something suitable. Once you go off the grid, ANYTHING is possible, and that causes problems. So I get where you are coming from.

On the flip side though, the workshop is a godsend. I don't have a lot of free time to play, so when I want to start a western section, I go find buildings, and I progress more quickly, and get more satisfaction than if I built every building myself.

You forgot the 3rd type of person: the one who plays the game and doesn't post his/her creations. Someone like me for instance.

I'm very happy with the direction this game is going... I've not been able to put the game down since the April update :)

There is a 4th who has played but no longer as already made all the massive suggestions on what would like to see and am waiting patiently and hoping and only comment once in a while now but then gets shot down for being negative because state that it is a shame that none of the QoL/Management suggestions so far appear to have been looked at or suggested they ever will be which is something that was believed to be a part of the game when initially described.

Am in hope that it will change and thus knowing there are updates coming, check in and see how things are and that's about it.

It's a real shame that the game is getting 'bashed' lately, especially after the continuous hype that Frontier received pre-release. In no way has the game been 'falsely advertised' and they need to understand that it would be impossible to add every single requested item from everyone into a game, it would just be too much.

I like the sense of following the development, getting excited about an update without any research into what's coming. Being grateful for what's being provided and starting the cycle over again. I joined the hype when the game was in development, I never had my hopes set high in case of disappointment, but instead I followed and I was definitely surprised with what they we're able to achieve within the first few months of Alpha release. Since then, it's just got better and better.

These forums are used for feedback, and the developers are listening. We can see that implementations within the game have come from feedback. Didn't many requests revolve around Terrain Collision? That was fixed, just one example of many. It's a shame that people are expecting the game to be at their requested level yesterday, but when it's not, they refuse to play.

I will continue to follow the development, just like I did from day one, and I will continue to be dazzled by the surprises that are included within every update!

Thank you Frontier, for not giving up.

I'm happy with where the game is going now. When Planet Coaster first released after having taken part in all of the alphas I wont lie, I was a little disappointed. I wanted to see so much more done with the management side of things than what we actually got. I have now managed to get over the disappointment to the point where I enjoy just playing and building in the game, much more so than I did in RCT3. I'm of the view the management portion of gameplay could have been far better, but I also appreciate it isn't the direction that the developers want to take the game. I now enjoy Planet Coaster for what it is, and not what it could have been. To me the game is a little like a train set, something you can spend many hours on obsessing over the little details to then sit back and enjoy your creation. For that it is fantastic and the updates they're adding will only help to strengthen that!

Sure, I'd have liked to have seen different things added in this update (*cough* Jurassic scenery! *cough* ) but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth! The fireworks are something that I never particularly cared for in RCT3, but I have to say now that I know they're being added, I cannot wait to setup a massive display in my park!

Hi Ramm, i read you often, i tend to agree a lot about what you say, but i was specifically aiming at the game bashers, not the gamers like you who do give constructive criticism, not to mention realistic hopes and demands.

To fulfill everyones wishes is something that no-one can do. Any player is an individual with different interest in the game. Some of you want a better management, some others the latest Vekoma Coasters or however the companies are called, personally i would like to see more themes and not just additions to the existing ones. So where to begin??? The last updates gave everyone of us a little of what's on his wishlists.

I like what I have got so far and the next update looks also very promising. And the best is ... it's again for free. I think, when the next update is out, we will see some poelple moan again, because this or that effect in the fireworks is missing.

That the Devs listen to our wishes can one see, when you read now, that the next update will have colourable wooden coasters. But we can't expect that all our wishes from one update to another can be fulfilled in just three months.

The current generation of gamers have become entitled and spoiled by AAA titles. They've forgotten that gaming isn't always and can't always be 1000000FPS 24/7. PC is impressive and a continuous evolution. Ignore the haters and appreciate it for what it is - a beautiful coaster and park building sim.
