The Neil Armstrong moment will be a disappointment

Learning that we will not have any ship interiors is a bit of a blow for ED and Odyssey.

ever since the kick starter days i believed the first "steps" onto a planet would be by leaving the seat and walking through the ship and out the door, with Horizons we had the SRV and a black loading screen but there was a small hint of the CMDR standing up, a little gesture perhaps of what was to come

unfortunately ED have gone a different track and prioritized other avenues and ignored alot of people, even fans were able to create their own interiors as shown here 1.5 years ago, with sound!

for a true "Neil Armstrong" moment this involves getting out your chair and walking to the ships door, no black screen or infill is going to cut it, its a reversed videogif of someone else work but this is what i expect, but walking from the cockpit! actually walking out to the planet, the ships doors opening onto the landscape, not a stupid black screen.

nothing else is going to cut it other than to ruin that "Neil Armstrong" moment, pretty much the same as black loading screen to SRV we have now :(

dont release another half baked update, delay it another year if you have to and add interiors so we can have a proper landing and get out the ship for the first time, properly, and as it should be.

dont half bake it... let it cook.... please... do it properly

We don't know how its going to work. If it's a black screen to the top of the lift or stairs that we need to descend, we can still get that Neil Armstrong moment. Sure it's not perfect without ship interiors, but I can wait for those, especially if it meant that other stuff didn't get done because they did ship interiors.

While it's pretty much universally true that no elite player wants an fps, that's the path they've gone down.

I can't shake the feeling it would turn out better as it is and let them just do one thing at once rather than stuff for us as well as completely new players.

Each ship is different, so im not sure how that would work,as a minimum a black screen to the "airlock" of the ship and walking out that would be a great compromise and enable the moment to still "work" while they finish off interiors

but if we take the "wait and see" attitude we will end up waiting like mining, CQC, multcrew, Exploration etc etc, they're all OK but not great and mostly borked after ED came in with wrecking balls to fix half baked launches, they're all still almost "in development" at least get this one right from the off?

not seen that sidewinder interior vid before, makes me want interiors a bit more tbh

I also think this whole Neil Armstrong moment is too focused on leaving the ship, for me its those 1st boots on the moon moment and looking around, messing about with low gravity and experiencing something new

I get a Neil Armstrong moment from the SRV airlock already .. Armstrong I suspect, would be quite a bit more interested, in remaining fuel, the state of his ship for departure and conducting his experiments, than the ladder.

Not being able to walk out/in of my ships put Odyssey on my do-not-purchase list. I play ED for the ships, and nothing else. If first person is to be added, I only care if it's ship-centric. If it isn't, there are tons of non-ship-centric first person games I can play, and lot of them will always be flat-out better than a spaceship game's tacked on first person. Add FPS, add space Minecraft, whatever . . . as long as I can walk out of my ahip to do it, engage in activities that directly relates to my ship, and then I walk back into my ship.

TLDR; It has to be bout the ships or I have zero interest.

It's of little importance to me.
Not really keen to check the bucket that plays the role of the loo in a Hauler.

Besides that, i play ED for flying the ships, not for jogging around.

Hey OP, I am in TOTAL agreement with you but if they started implementing everything we wanted asap, instead of half baked(which lots of their features are in FD) we would get superbly beautiful ships with 5% bake.
Any beautiful buggy low fps game remind you of that ? (clue : Satisfied Cat)
