The New Modules

You know, advanced docking computer, super cruise assist. I think FD missed a trick here that would have prevented big ship owners from using the new slot to add more hull or module strength.
Even a medium ships like my Chieftain can use the size one slot to boost shields or hull, or modules. Why didn't they just combine all three of the new modules, and make them standard on all ships, you know the way they did it with the FSS?

They gave us the option to turn various aspects of the new modules on or off, so why the extra slot?

TBH, I'd rather just leave tat that I'm not going to use in the shop and have an extra slot to make use of.

The real issue is why 1 1.4t HRP (in conjunction with light alloy hull) that costs Cr15,000 provides almost the same integrity as a 35t MGC hull that costs Cr15m.

Yep, the questionable general slot cost of the existing DC has been raised over and over for years as a needless penalty for what is often just a fun/QoL feature. But FD have carried on down that same questionable route, and built more on it anyway.

Yep, the new slots simply all too often being used to tank up ships to yet more insanely unbalanced levels was raised over and over again, when they were announced, but FD have carried on anyway.

There were a number of simple alternative, simply offering them as standard equipment as you suggest being an obvious one, but for some reason FD seem to have chosen a needlessly counter productive path anyway...
