The new outfitting UI is killing me ... am I bad or is it?

Issue: I can't seem to see the name of the modifications applied to gear.

Yes I can see the final modified stats but ... seriously ... let me see the name of the engineering modification.

Not only would I have to memorize the stat adjustments for each modification but know the but the base stats of an item to decide which module was better done (I have maxed out storage and some components were in various levels of modification)

Am I missing something on the new UI or a toggle?

If not I'll actually end up going back to Horizons for outfitting ships. Because what is there right now is bad if I'm not missing something.

Especially for things like shield boosters where we might have many different optimal combinations depending on the role we're currently doing.

Issue: The new UI also seems to require a lot more clicking/navigating for basic outfitting.

Issue: when outfitting from "Loadout" tab I seem to only get options to buy even though I have engineered modules in storage. I can equip them from Storage but then I'm sorting through every size of module instead of only what fits my ship.

Nope, completely with you. After writing a thread on trying to understand the thinking behind it, I've given up for now. It's unusable.

It's different...
I got used to the old one, but it wasn't exactly inituative before. I can see why they changed it.

The old UI had a few issues.
The new UI has more issues.

It's seriously like the person or team that designed this have spent no time actually outfitting a ship and have never needed to swap a bunch of modules out and swap back in some stored modules - if they had they would certainly not have come up with this new design.

The odyssey UI's look better but found some of the new interfaces lacking some of the old functionality that we were so used to personally

The outfitting as mentioned above, and for me the ship transfer screen, no longer allows you to see what components are fitted on the ships before you transfer them, or even whats fitted on your stored ships. Had mentioned this in Alpha, so was hoping the old functionality would of been reconsidered to be added.

It's the UI. It literally violates some of the most basic rules of UX and it's insane that it ever made it through a basic design review.

One of the number one rules of UX design is to minimize the number of actions.... they did the exact opposite.

If they ever push this garbage down to Horizons I'll probably quit playing ED altogether

Ive not played for a solid year. So I've not been used to the old UI.

I find the new one better. But I hated the last time they changed it. Muscle memory is a ... You will get used to it :) Some things are actually faster.

Agreed. Even just 1 dev focused on UX would have been able to optimize and fix this stuff.

Other things like the mission board not allowing you to "Back" out with the same hotkey that works for "Back" on all of the other submenus. At least that one will be an easy fix.

But even then ... forcing that sub-menu with Missions / Community Goals / Passengers ... was bad.
