The new species viewer has gotten me excited!

After yesterday's showcase of update 2.0 and Camp Cretaceous DLC, I find myself loving the new species viewer.

I could see myself spending hours in this viewer and just ogle at all of the dinosaur models, skins, and animations. Seeing the animals on the black background and with focused light reminds me a lot of the National Geographic Photo Ark.

One feature I would love to see get implemented is to have the option to hear a factoid of the dinosaur we are viewing be played when we select a species, like the ones shared via tours as they use the same narrator, as it practically is a virtual gallery/museum!

Tuesday could not come any sooner!

It's cool, but I still would've prefered if it were accessible through the hatchery modifications screen as well. As it is now it's gonna be a pain to go back and forth between the game and main menu everytime you wanna check how a skin looks on a certain dino.

Would it really be so hard to include that on dino skin preview in the huge empty hatchery screen space we see when modifying their skins? I just wanna be able to see what I'm choosing right before I incubate a dino without having to save and reload everytime 😭

I definitely hear ya, I do think it is taxing to render such a gallery while the park is on standby though, which may not be an issue for high end PC users, but low end PC users and consoles may have a harder time with such a task.

I would love to be able to access it directly from the game, like how we would from the database. I wonder if it is possible if it could be done by having the game save its current state and suspend your playthrough to access the gallery, so as to save time and a few steps going to the main menu to open the gallery there.

It wouldn't have to render a whole gallery, though, only one single dino when you go in to modify the selected species. Don't even need all the moving around and poses etc, a simple render of the model that changes color would be enough and I don't think that'd be too much to add. I mean even JPOG had a moving preview of each dino in the hatchery and if it worked way back then I'd think they can certainly make it work now.

@devs: could you please implement the species viewer into the normal game modes. It sucjs to quit the game only to watch for some new cool skibs. Would fit better in the settings when the game is paused. Thanks a lot

Yeah, it's great. I already used it, as a rough reference for drawing, since I couldn't find a refence picture with the angle I wanted anywhere else. Being able to turn a a beautiful detailed model around is a good tool for artists.

Definitly not the intended use, but if it helps, it helps.

I definitely understand, it is such an awesome tool to reference from which it is both convenient and effective. I am studying 3D animation and love to see organic movement of the anatomy, muscle and tissue of the animals here to capture a more organic sense of motion.
