The next big thing?

1. I would really like to see a vastly more complex bulletin board
2. Onwards from that passenger missions, blockade running missions
3. NPC human faces and names in different forms (missions, ships)
4. Battles around actual stations
5. Planetary landing ( I know this will be a year or two away)
6. Fix all the bugs with the reputation
7. Scavenging derelict ships as per the DDF forum's proposal
8. NPC crew members you can hire

The absolute priority IMO is to get persistent NPCs working. Make them consistent, make interaction with them have a meaningful effect on the universe, and do fix the asteroid ring spawning, it is absolutely idiotic at the moment. I would also love to see the USS removed entirely, or reworked such that they only contain wreckage or cargo containers. The ship-based scenarios should be rolled into the supercruise mechanic, such that NPCs can interact with and intercept one another, and players can take part by dropping out at FSD wakes. The current implementation, especially with regards to black market traders and wedding, funeral and transport convoys that currently obliterate any hope of immersion the moment I encounter them.

Don`t get me wrong, i absolutely adore this game - it is a dream come true for me as a SF fan and astronomy fan, but it needs a lot of work. As I stated in another thread, it is at the moment merely good instead of being absolutely fantastic, as I had hoped.

Communication. You know talking, discussing, helping, teasing, planning with other human beings in the game. As every other online game have developed functionality for in the last 10 years.

And I dont mean the random clicking and hailing nerest CMDR who happends to be in range before they leave.

The absolute priority IMO is to get persistent NPCs working.

That would help so much for the lonley feelings in the galaxy.

+1

99% of times i try to talk to other cmdrs i get no answer.

Wings really should have been a Priority over anything else... even without missions (Crazy, I know?).

Humans are innovative creations, and they get even more innovative (for better or worse ;) ), when they are able to group together for a common aim.

Co-operative game-play is the future, in my opinion, with some PvP thrown in (especially Wing vs Wing?! :) ). For Elite Dangerous to have truly emergent game-play, all the tools that players' need to "blaze their own trail" need to be in. Now if you throw in co-operative missions in to the mix, and you have a very solid basis and lots of fun. Humans like playing together, be id adversarial, or co-operative.

I love Elite, and it'll be a game a play for a long time. FD can win a lot of hearts by concentrating on the multi-player experience, from both a stability, and game-play perspective.

I'd like to log in with my friends, go collect a "Wing" mission where we have to transport X within an hour, and have to use multiple ships to do so.
I'd like to accept bounty missions of the 500K variety, where we have to take out a number of difficult targets.
I'd like the emerging story to encourage group-play.

These things will come, I honestly think. Frontier have developed a brilliant framework which is functional, and fun to be in (for me), but needs to go to the next level.

From an art/sound perspective, I'd not change anything.

QFT. Wings need to be added in ASAP. This is of the utmost priority imo. It should be.

Agreed, and a point well made about USS's - I had actually not stopped to think about but your absolutely right, having a convoy flying in normal space is completely illogical.

Ultimately FD know exactly what is needed to address the persistence issue because its all laid out here:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7494

Currently all NPCs are "level 3" i.e. entirely transient.

Our job is to keep hassling them to put some effort into it rather than whatever bling feature they think will look good in the youtube videos.

I really don't like the USS mechanic. I just feel it's a little forced. They should remain a USS until you scan them at least.
