The next DLC and updates: Your predictions

Pardon if this topic already has been posted, couldn't find one though.

So what's your take on the next DLC? What are your predictions, and perhaps concerns? We've discussed in detail what we, the community, want to see implemented in the game, but not much revolving around the features we don't wish to see.

I'd be willing to bet there is some kind of new terrain management tool in the works.

I hope we get some more terrain tools, decorations, different types of trees and ferns. I would really like to see some new shop designs. A color pallet options for buildings, fences, vehicles, and helicopters would be great. Something as simple as changing the strobe lights on fences to green instead of red... or changing the color of the lighted strip on a hotel to a vibrant neon color would be cool.

The base game is pretty good now other then of course wanting more animations and behaviors for the dinosaurs. What the game needs now is the ability to design and customize your parks as an incentive to keep building new parks and playing. That's why terrain tools and decorations are my top hope. The 2nd most needed thing is better skins for the velociraptors most of all. Other classics need JP and LW skins too like the Rex and dilophosaurus, but the Raptors skins are so horrible compared to ANY of the movies it's hard to overlook.

As far as things I DONT want to see added.... it's hard to say I dont want anything that should potentially make the game better.... but what I dont want is more MEDIOCRE skins that aren't movie based!

Pretty sure this kind of thread has been done before... *shrugs* oh well...

I'm not one to make guesses... I like working with evidence... so this is probably more wishful thinking than a prediction, but... I'm gonna say the next DLC will revolve around Claire Dearing and the two sides of her character; the well-being of the park and the well-being of the animals.

I'm thinking guests and their needs will be more fleshed out (people will have names, needs and things they are interested in seeing), smaller things like bathrooms, small food and souvenir stands, and useful objects like benches, streetlights, vending machines and trashcans will be added, as well as some basic decor items like flowerbeds, fountains, statues and decorative fences, the kind that keep guests contained... animals? Not so much. A few new guest facilities (like maybe a jewelry store? Or a taller hotel to house more guests in the same amount of space?), at least one new attractions (perhaps the classic Jurassic Park tour ride? Or the savannah tour seen in Jurassic World?), and new management staff (maintenance workers, to keep the park clean and repair damaged benches, trash cans and such when they're inevitably destroyed) would round out the park side.

For the animals, the current system for adding and removing trees and low brush will introduce "themes" featuring different forms of plant life (and ground-cover) to replicate different biomes. In addition to the one and only Jungle theme currently available, I'm thinking a Temperate Rainforest theme, either a Semi-Desert environment or a Wetland theme... and a generic suburban theme with simple trees, grass and flowering plants for guest areas. Individual trees (and rocks) will be added, although I'm thinking these will be more decorative than practical (especially the rocks) since the dino AI will likely still focus on the plants added via the biome system rather than these individual objects. New dinosaurs will be added, of course... no new hybrids (not Claire's area), but I'm thinking the new dinosaurs will be both in-demand and very exotic, perhaps Therizinosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Plateosaurus... probably two or three more, but these seem the most likely to me... the wishful thinker in me wants to say Dimetrodon too.

Lastly new story missions and maps to go with them will be added, including a new (and bigger) sandbox mode map.

This !! I cant say it better
Please Frontier listen to your community

Probably a large DLC like SoDW every 3-4 months, and smaller updates and packs inbetween. It’s a good formula that keeps people coming back for more just when they might be getting tired of something.

I think we’ll get an update and either a Jurassic or Triassic Dino pack maybe February, and in March or April get another larger expansion.

This would be the most realistic timeline and scenario IMHO

Terrain tools and decoration. Been a long time coming from the company behind Planet Coaster.
I also hope for JP themed DLC with reskins for animals, buldings, the cuiser, fences, etc. I would pay the whole game over for it, but I'm not very optimistic.

I'd pay good money for that, but I'm fairly certain we won't be seeing this for a long time, if at all. Besides the terrain tool, I'm pretty sure there will be a continuation of the Dr Wu-angle in the next DLC aswell.

Hmm... that would be a little disappointing if I do say so myself. While I'm fairly sure we'll see a continuation of the Dr. Wu plot at some point--Secrets left plenty of loose ends for a sequel--I'd hope they give another character and their ambitions some time in the spotlight (again, my preference would be Claire).

This is just my opinion though, but since we're talking about DLC's, here's my take.

The base game, cretaceous pack & secrets DLC mainly were about terrestrial dinos & the associated hybrids, & since you guys mentioned that the latest DLC kind of left some loose-ends, we could fill that gap with a marine DLC, keep the story going. After all, Dr. Wu was behind the creations of both Mosa & Tylosaur clones I believe.

I belive that Frontier at some point of the game will release an acquatic reptiles Expansion but as they say now there is no plan for this now, so I dont think we will se acquatics creatures in this year maybe the next, and it is fine, let them focus on terrestrials creatures now! and give Frontier time to release this expansion when all in the game is ready!

I don't mind a story being woven into the park-building, however the hybrid-thing isn't really my cup of tea. Perhaps a Biosyn-industrial espionage-type angle would fit quite well. Readers of the original novels would appreciate that too I think.

But the bottom line, the game is about creation, and I need more tools to create with. Which I'm pretty positive we'll be getting in the next major update.

Could be interesting to have that as a reaction to Wu's stunt at the end of the current DLC.

I'd love to see a new mode where you don't create your own dinosaurs, but have them delivered to you at relative random and you need to keep up with them (some might even come as diseased prompting a need to take care of them as you scramble for pens.

I would love a extra terrain tool like decorations and maybe a tool with specific trees like stumps, logs, and a redwood tree like in JW.
Maybe even like a tree log viewing platform that you can place in the pen and make a tunnel to a path that connects the log to the park like in JPOG. Anyway all of you have great predictions.

I'm going to say for 1.7 we'll get a free update with a handful of terrain options (Muerta/Pena flowers, sand brush, rock brush and dirt paths) and maybe sandbox versions of the islands.

Along with this, we'll probably get a Jurassic or Triassic Pack. This might include Coelophysis, Plateosaurus and Herrerasaurus for Triassic, and for Jurassic I'm going to say any three of these: Torvosaurus, Dicraeosaurus, Miragaia, Wuerhosaurus, Cryolophosaurus and DEFINITELY Dryosaurus.

1.8 I'm expecting to be a larger DLC. I'm getting more into fantasy theory here, but if I were a dev this would be focused on Claire and Owen. It might be titled "Rescue" or "Sanctuary" as the two work to get the dinosaurs away from Dr. Wu's consistently cruel experiments.

This DLC would include 1 or 2 new maps, Sorna West and a Sanctuary island. Sorna West would be where you do missions to gather dinosaur populations, and Sanctuary would be about building giant ecosystem style exhibits. Sorna West would feature a new biome with ferns and redwoods and Sanctuary would be bigger than Nublar. Both islands would be available for sandbox and challenge mode play.

Other additions would be safari trucks, gates for said trucks and gyrospheres, invisible fences and digestion genes to allow carnivore food meters to slow down and herbivores to no longer need feeders as they can now digest grass or trees.

This DLC would include four or five new dinosaurs and Owen's missions would heavily feature raptors and unlock raptor skins based on the films. It would also feature limited new pack hunting behaviours for the raptors.

Possible dinosaurs included in this DLC could be any four or five of the following: Therizinosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Oviraptor, Albertosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Amargasaurus, Ouranosaurus. It MIGHT feature a hybrid designed by Dr. Wu to sabotage Owen and Claire's efforts, given Universal's obsession with hybrids, but this is a long shot.

The free update paired with this DLC includes the new fern and redwood brushes, raptor pack animations and would also include a new escape mechanic where hadrosaurs, ornithomimids and pachycephalosaurs will gain a defense stat and will have a chance to escape from predators attacks based on said stat.

1.9 would then feature the Jurassic or Triassic pack which wasn't in 1.7 along with an update to building skins and some decorations and doodads.

That's my half-fantasy-hopes and half-prediction list. I am fairly confident about the Claire/Owen thing because there's no reason to have kept Owen impersonator and have hired Bryce for the five lines she has. Something was planned for the two.

Edited for spelling errors.
