General / Off-Topic The next generation of players

The next generation of players will be even more into computer games ?

I have a 9 year old boy and six year old girl. My boy really likes computer games and my girl just as much and from what they say most of the girls and boys in the school are into computer games (PC/Tablet/Phone/Console etc)

So when I was a child it was like 30 percent of boys and 10 percent of girls that were really into computer games.

When the younger generations get to middle age the world is going to be obsessive about computer games...

I'm really not sure what will happen. The odd thing about new generations is they try to rebel against what generation that brought them up did.

Computer games were new when I was a kid. When I was in my teens computer games became bad in parents eyes (because of silly sensationalist journalism). My generation has had its own kids and we don't see a problem with games, and in fact we spends huge amounts of money on it as a hobby. The next generation have even less of a problem with it. Sooner or later playing computer games and communication via computer will be seen as seriously uncool and people will be playing chess and arranging to meet in person as act of rebellion. Sounds silly but I'd bet a lot of money on that happening.

My son is nine and plays Elite when I am away (using my account which I don't mind) and he likes Star Craft as well. My other three are too young yet, but I suspect they will like video games as well. I agree with you OP. They enjoy the games, but from what I have read it can be bad for their young minds.
