We have gotten many fine ships now in E.D and space feels crowded and diverse. All has their weaknesses and strengths.

Combat ships: Sidewinder, Eagle, Viper, Diamondback Explorer, Imperial Courier, Vulture, Fer-De-Lance, Imperial Clipper and the Python.

All purpose ships: Adder, Cobra, Asp, Diamondback Scout, Federal Drop Ship and the Anaconda.

Trader ships: The Hauler, T6, T7 and the T9

Passenger Liners: Orca

Fighters: Imperial fighter and Federation fighter (F63 Condor)

Capital ship: Farragut Battlecruiser and Majestic Class Indictor

These are 24 ships. I count the two Diamondback ships as different ships. I might be wrong. Maybe they are more like same ship different type.
So the big question is, where do Frontier go from here and which ship should be added for the next major update. We have some good alternatives. Imperial Cutter and the Federal Corvette. Which are capital ships in the scale of the Anaconda or even bigger. The Panther Clipper which will be the biggest trading ship in the game. We have the Beluga and Dolphin passenger liners. And the rest which are being speculated from the FFE and Frontier universe. And off course old classics still missing from the original Elite. I myself are very happy with the ships so far in E.D and I have gotten my favorite the Fer-De-Lance into the game and I am looking forward for the day I can own one. But I am in no rush to get it. I am taking my time :) There are so many fine ships to try and now I am using the Asp.

I am adding a poll so we can vote for what you want the next ship to be. If its not in the poll just write what you want.

I think it really depends on what the update is and what Frontier want to do.
Putting in the biggest ships Cutter/Corvette/Panther Clipper is something I just don't see happening for a while.

If the update is passengers then they'd probably come with Dolphin and Beluga which I think would be ace.
If the next update focuses on exploring they may another exploration vessel in but I think theres enough ships capable of exploration even if they are not specific to exploration.

If I was a betting man (which I am) I'd say there will probably be something around the Dropship/Clipper price range to help fill the gap between ASP and Python since not everyone goes for the fed/emp ranks.

P.S. For the love of god not another poll :p

I'd like to see more and more ships above the Asp level. Around the Python range some slightly smaller, some slightly bigger. This is where I feel they are needed most.
Even though I voted for the Thargoids. I mean, who wouldn't, right? :)

I voted for Thargoids. I would love to see them back. They would really bring a new power into the game and create exiting missions and combat situations. But I can agree that a ship between the Asp and Python would also be nice. My next step up from the Cobra in the retail version is the Asp which I am now flying in the Beta. I think its a very nice ship although not very agile it can take a punch and has ok firepower. So something to go for after the Asp in the 15-20 million class would be nice. The Federal Drop ship doesnt do it for me. It seems like cannon fodder.

Agreed. I had hoped the Diamondback would be in this space, no pun intended, as I feel there's a gap or two between Asp and Python.

OK, so I'm the only one [so far, at least] that liked the (Basic) designs from EF.
Having said that, I also like the idea of passengers -and therefore passenger liners.
"Trotter's Intra-galactic Tours", see the Great Anhiliator, keep an eye out, we may even see the "Sag A* Sniper" [from a long way away, a very, very long way away, receeding fast!]:D

A non-faction exclusive ship of the Clipper/Dropship class would be good, this is where the Mamba could slot in perhaps? Would also like to see the Corvette and Cutter added soon...

It probably needs a FSD. Because he's not supposed to have one. Would be cool to enlist at a station to be an escort pilot for a Capital Ship, and you launch from it. Of course it would mean that the conflict zones will need actual objectives : annihilate the enemy fleet (with a limited numbers of spawn, or "tickets"), holding the position (whatever this means in space) or whatnot. Once you lost or won, you land on the Capital ship, get out and get back to the station and your ship with your payment.

Yes this passed me by, it looks like a fighter class ship. Its beautiful, it fits though under "other new types". Yes, a ship squeezed in between the Asp and Python would be nice as mentioned. Or two. I am a Federation guy and cant see me go for the drop ship if they don´t upgrade it and makes it more tantalizing or tempting. In other words better.

Yeah, with the Anacondas supposed ships up to the size of a sidewinder docking bay I'd expect that or a new ship like the hunter to be perfect since currently even the Eagle is much longer/wider than a sidey.
