The next update

If there is another big update this year, I hope it is a fall one. Fall related scenery items, including more horror objects for haunted rides. A path system that acts as a ride that you can charge people for to use for walk through haunted houses. Sort of like RCT3 mini golf path. A new type of dark ride car tracked ride. More flats including a roofed spinning thrill ride that plays music, like a Thunder Bobs or Musik Express.

this would be very cool [up] maybe there could be some special path types like slanted floors, spinning tunnels, sliding poles (or fireman pole), goofy mirrors, bouncy floors, trap doors, rope ladders, slides, etc. :rex::face:

it would be perfect if the maze ride could be attached to a track ride too! like the maze/path system could be a queue for a track ride, or it could just be its own separate ride

If I wanted to make a walk through haunted house that charged admission, could I put a shop at the entrance such as a hat stall and use regular path through the house? Or have a flat ride at the end like a Psychola, and use queue path for the path through the haunted house. That would work for now.

I'm just really ready for a new big set of building pieces. I want a new theme that is at least as big as any existing building themes. Hopefully they also add some missing pieces in the current sets and new things like half wall pieces and more roofs.

I guess this will be actually the last free update. Therefore I wouldn´t mind if it didn´t offer many new rides etc. but focus on polishing the game, especially gameplay wise.
  • 1. Path system enhencements (maybe even with added tunneling)
  • 2. Improved transport rides (shuttle mode)
  • 3. I hope for a set of new parks with different shapes, sized and ability to buy extra plot to expand the park. New scenario objectives, maybe even bigger career mode revamp
  • 4. Improve Fireworks, add timeline editor
  • 5. Enhence ride prestige system and expand on ride maintenance, so it does have real impact on the gameplay.
3rd and 5th point are enough to make me actually very happy with the game as these are the most important for me, real gameplay changers. And in my opinion, these are doable....

One thing MOST people have been asking for, is swimming pools, water slides, diving boards, a water pack expansion pack. Frontier this month have released their first DLC's where they for the first time ever, charge for those updates/DLCs. I would happily pay for a water expansion pack which promises these things. Cause of the resources Frontier use (time, staff) to work on such a thing, and since the base game is fairly cheap for the stuff you get in it, compared to other games.

And while they're at it, a 'Wild' expansion too... with animals and stuff... :D Would be awesome to have that RCT3 platinum feeling back of 'endless possibilities'.

I too would like a new building pack. We have a nice set of content to build with, however all my parks have the same "feel."

Walk through attractions would be great! However they would need a guest tweak. I only say this because right now, if they were charged to walk through a path "ride" filled with only scenery, they would not accurately react or get their ride fulfillment of entertainment as scenery does not appear to have a huge effect just as pathing decorations. In alpha I feel like guests reacted so much more to scenery. The pirate band used to incite such joy and guests dancing a lot. I don't really seee that anymore. Not sure if something was changed.

I agree, i don't really need new flatrides or coaster types at the moment. Of course they are always nice, but for me it's ok to save them from an expansionpack. The last free update should be indeed mostly focussed on polishing and QOL stuff. Then when the game is finally like it should be i'm more than happy to buy a Soaked! or Wild! expansionpack [big grin]

As I already said in other thread talking about this, I don't mind if there's nothing added. I would like polish on existing features. There's a lot of things to improve. Here are some examples of what I would like to see improved:

- Improvements on guests AI (for example when multiple people enter a queue, many times some say the queue is full)
- Improvements on priority pass (for example separate queue)
- Ability to have more information about rides in UI before building it (number of simultaneous guests)
- Solve the problem where after a time, many staff leaving because no obvious reason. They're well paid, trained to the max and bang, all of a sudden, they leave because they're not happy anymore
- Less vandalism and theft if there's security guards and cameras
- Adjustments on guest AI to make them wandering in the park and discover some part of the park
- Adjustments on guest AI and the way they choose to go further in the park. Many times, I've a lot of good rides in front and good rides in back, but if they find something they like in front, they don't go further, even if queue line is less in back of the park
- Be able to choose what we want to research without being able to search 20 items before discovering what I need (or at least kind of tech tree)

And if there's changes, I hope for gameplay changes like:
- More interesting career mode when we start small and grow bigger
- Additions of competition against AI where we've to adjust our choices to compete with other(s) park(s)

According to Steam's game stats, PC has lost nearly 60% of its players since release (based on Average number of players) and nearly 80% of its players since release (based on Peak number of players).

I firmly believe that this is due to the poor management and lack of challenge in the game, and I believe that many would return if this was addressed.

Don't get me wrong, Frontier have got everything else right, but these areas are sorely lacking.

So please, focus the next update on Management.

I would easily pay $10 for a water park expansion pack if they decided to go that direction, but I think when and if the do release a water park expansion pack, it will be a free update. In all honesty, I think we will be seeing 2 or 3 free updates a year (with new flat rides with every update) for a few more years with maybe 1 or 2 DLC packs of some sort. All I know is that there is still a few rides that I would personally would like to see in the future updates and they are the Condor ride, first generation drop tower, family log flume, and a skyway. If I was going to take a wild guess at when the next 3 updates will be. I would say November, February, and April.

Maybe for the rest of this year we get free add on items like we have been getting so far, with maybe some spooky items for Halloween and another update for Christmas. As far as any expansion packs are concerned, I don't think we will get these until the spring of 2018 (maybe a Water Park pack) which won't be free. I don't think we will get any more free updates of any size after this year, except patches to improve game play or fix bugs. I think that next year, Frontier will be concentrating on a new game, but will continue to make more DLCs that will add more themes, animatronics , such as a Dinosaur pack or maybe some scifi stuff.
As far as new coasters and flat rides, I think these will come in paid for expansion packs, like there was for RCT3. I think for what Frontier has given us so far for free, is pretty outstanding, but they can't carry on giving free update packs for much longer. This is just my personal opinion, but I think Frontier will wind down with free stuff after this year and just concentrate on some more DLCs and maybe a couple of larger expansion packs.

I agree with you Coasterbuff. The only problem that I see with the paid expansion packs is that lets say I did a theme park with a waterpark or a flat ride that was part of a paid expansion pack. The person who is interested in visiting my park would have to get the expansion pack first in order for them to play the theme park in all their glory.

Look up just about any game and you'll see the same drop, it's completely normal for that to happen. Average 3,000 players is also pretty good numbers.

If anyone has really read the information about the Frontier Expo on Frontier's own Expo site you'll fin d this ...

With the game’s anniversary just around the corner, and a new update accompanying that milestone, we want to show you what else we’ve got in store for you! Join this developer-led panel to find out what’s coming in the very special anniversary update!

Hope that helps to answer your question.

Could you point me at some examples please?

I just looked at a sample of games at random, and none of them had lost this many players in 9 months after release. Some had gained players.

I'm sure there are one or two, but saying 'just about any game' is not true from what I can see.

It is due to PC being a single player game.

I don't agree with this. It was a single player game when we bought it and when it was at it's peak too!
