What is a Flight path marker?(a.k.a. Flight path vector)

Well it's very simple. it's a HUD Feature that give you the direction the ship is currently moving to. Normally it's displayed as a Circle with 3 lines ( a circle and airplane wings) .

This would be terrific good for both FAO and FAon pilots... since you can actually "see" the use of lateral thrusters in both cases, and big ships "drifting" even on FAon.

This is both used in Choppers and Planes... (military and civil) and most of the time is one very important tool to have on both.

I feel that this wont be a HUGE endeavor for the devs to implement... and they could even make it optional so people who don't feel this is important just turn it off on the functions tab.

and this could help a Fton on players use fo FAO.

Me too!. Also since ships don't drift in supercruise the FPM would stay centred so we don't have to use the ugly mouse widget thingy anymore.

FPV has been requested since release. Pretty sure we had one back in Alpha, not sure why they refuse to add it. closest thing we've got to an FPV is the space dust. I actually find the space dust performs an excellent job as an FPV in VR, essentially just an augmented reality FPV.

To be honest this is my sentiment on the subject. While slightly unbelievable to have consistent dust/debris/whatever throughout the entirety of the void, I think I would find a dedicated instrument less intuitive to use than what we already have. It's nice knowing vector and velocity to a general extent while still looking anywhere out your canopy.

Space dust is somewhat good. BUT they are very very inaccurate. You cant really tell me that you can see exactly where you are going in fao just by looking at the dust.. I'm not meaning like I'm going 90º left... that's obvious a good use of the dust... but moving forwards? can you tell me that you can see exactly if the ship is moving SLIGHTLY downwards? I bet you don't. The fact is that this is very important. to avoid or to actually collide with another ship... this kind of device is very useful...

I think we should have both. the dust is very useful for big changes like moving sideways... but for moving forwards and having very accurate FPV we need to have one of these...

I'd like to see they are a HUD feature.... but they work outside the HUD 9 you can still see it when the canopy is broken... Helion has the same feature... toogleable actually.

Yes I most defintely can, however I fly in VR, am surrounded by everything in 1:1 scale. It would be impossible to fly pure FA-OFF accurately without the space dust, it is essential for me. Being able to accurately correct even minor drift is incredibly important for effiecient flying FA-OFF.

No idea what it's like on a monitor, it's been a few years now, perhaps it is more difficult to detact small levels of drift. Am all for a flight path vector, as mentioned previously I can't understand why it still not in game, give cmdrs an option to toggle it off if some don't like it.

The more tools we have at our disposal the better.

I use the space dust for a general idea of the velocity vector, and I agree a vector indicator would make things generally easier with no real downside other than reducing the skill requirement a little.

I find that very small movements are of little concern to me in practice, if I need to be that precise it's because I'm really close to something & can just use that object as my reference. In combat I'm generally not concerned with my overall velocity vector, only my vector relative to my target or surrounding objects.

On previous occasions where this request has come up I've suggested a transparent ball around the representation of our own ship on the HUD. A similar ball around a targeted ship could show it's own vector, relative to our own ship.
