specially for darkrides...
i know it's the theme/concept of this game, just like what atari is doing with tycoon world 4 version.

but i always tought some game like RCT3, with a more realism look of characters and total view could be so much more.
not that i dislike the concept of this game. wasted so much hours in RCT3 and modding of it.
but it's indeed not a GTA

ah ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎, may be in a near future...
hope the modding and pre build new content can start soon and we not have to wait until all expansion packs are available.
as this game need lot's of new game assets (scenary) and water theme's

Hang on, let's get the devs in here so they can redo the entire artstyle for the game.

I don't understand the purpose of your post, if the only thing you dislike is the artstyle, then thats a lot to dislike.

I don't see this happening. They've decided on the art style, and they've come too far into making it happen.
I honestly don't think "GTA"-ish graphics would make the game better.

I love the style.

It suits the game, fun, happy.

It ages much, much better than realism.

Its much easier to make this style look good.

Having thousands of GTA realism-esque guests would kill the frame rate, there's purpose in the cartoon style they've gone for.

No way they will change the style. They have it down pat ever since the announcement of making "coaster park tycoon".

I do not mind the art style. The rides are beautifully realistic and that's what I wanted.

I really like the current art direction, but - as with most things in life - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So I can understand what OP is trying to say.

This is not going to change and I don't think that modding will be able to do much on this aspect of the game, mainly due to the huge amount of animation, cloning and polygon budget hooks the guests will have in the game.

If you can stomach the art style, there is one additional benefit that the game might have. The cartoon style ages better <3.

We've no plans on changing the character art style in the game.

We want to keep a nice balance between being "too real" and "too fake/fantasy-ish".

And im pretty sure thats the way most of the community likes it [big grin]

The game has awesome balance in realism / fantasy. The rides are all very realistic, which is exactly how we want it i think.
Yet the peeps are a bit cartoonish which allows to have some fun with them as well. And much more easy to express their feelings.

Please don't change a thing about the style [happy]

The "cartonny style" is one of the things I like the most in the game.
It's like playing in a Pixar movie, it's amazing !!!

So, thanks for your feedback, but : No thanks !!!
I am glad to know that the artistic direction will not change.

And by the way, it's realistic enough fixme12. Maybe you do not like this style (Which is your opinion, not the majority opinion), but it's the perfect style for the game, regardless of whether you like it or not.

The art design of this game is one of the best i have ever seen.
This thread reminds me of yesterday when i placed these big open window of the pirate theme. Honestly, look at them closely. The texture, the reflections. THESE REFLECTIONS!!! I watched my screaminator go up and down through these reflections for a few minutes. The modeled imperfections in texture and reflections and the art style make this game so stunningly beautiful that i can't even beleave it.
Thumps up for frontier!

I love the cartoony style, and as mentioned earlier, it will age much much better and gives it character.. I don't think a realistic looking game would fair well in say 2 / 3 years time when graphics cards are much more powerful and people will see the 'now' graphics as 'then' graphics and a total rebuild needs doing. Least this way in 10 years time we will still be looking at PC and thinking WoW! Look at RCT3.. I can still play it now and think it looks amazing!

I agree Brett. I think it gives the game more of flavour for all age groups, especially the younger players, as well as oldies, like me. I think all the characters look really good and I love the expressions on their faces and all the different movements. I like the first person Camera as well, you can follow them through the park and watch what rides they go on and what food and drinks they buy. Really nice to spend an hour with them, now and again. Oh, I love the art style. As others have said, it's a great balance between realism and fun. I know there's some out there that just want an ultra-realistic simulation of a theme park, but for me that misses a huge part of what a theme park is (and by extension a theme park game) - fun, charm, child-like wonder. I might still enjoy the game as just a strictly realistic simulation but it wouldn't please me in the same ways. I'm so glad for the art direction of the game. If I had to go in any direction between more cartoon-y or more realistic I would actually go toward more cartoon-y.

Also, in general I think gaming has become too serious in a super-serious world. Instead I like to escape to colorful worlds of fantasy and fun where the serious world fades away.

So, to the original poster, I can appreciate your point of view and don't think you're wrong in your desire for realism, but I really prefer the style they have chosen.

Yeah, feedback like this is rather meaningless. Granted, they can tweak some things...but something like the art style is pretty much set in stone. Besides, I think the art style is great. It's colorful and vibrant. And even though it looks "cartoony", the rides and scenery are all designed to look believable...like something you'd actually find in a real theme park.

I agree with the others. PC looks fine as it is. Besides it does have realistic aspect with the bolts, mechanical parts, signs, etc...

I can understand the desire for visual realism, but personally I adore the art direction of the game. The colours, the animation, it's charming and cheerful (the 'Security Guard Tackling Vandalism' video is one I've looked at several times and the style just puts a big smile on my face) . In contrast to the visuals, what I love is that the mechanics of so many things in the park ARE realistic, and that's a wonderful balance.

I think one of the most impressive things Frontier have done is marry the cartoon style with such detail and realism, that is incredibly hard to do and they've knocked it out of the park. Having such bold art and then having the detailed gloss shaders with imperfections, mechanical objects etc. is incredible.

Others have mentioned this as well but the characters are absolutely fantastic and would not have the life they do now with a realistic art style. They are so emotive and are a joy to watch walking around the parks! There are rollercoaster games out there with a realistic art style and while technically impressive they don't convey any soul or emotion which is what theme parks do so well.
