Is a black FDL...

Holy poop on a stick, god I love this thing.. Sorry, for the narcissistic post, but the FDL just looks friggen awesome in black.. like a stealth fighter.. Im in a res zone taking p.orn shots..

I was checking out an FDL- all A grade in the beta (everything costs 10%, yaknow)

One thing bothered me about its basic design- and no not the driver seat being off center, I could live with that.

It was from memories from FFE; the Fer De Lance was somewhat inverted- its hull slopes like an upside down viper. Rather than have a flat underside and roughly aerodynamic hull form above, the Fer De Lance had a flat top, with the underside sloping up to meet it.

It looked cooler that way. Kinda sad to see that the current FDL looks more like an upsized Hauler with additional tumorous lumps here and there...

+1. It looks nice as a ship but i really wish they had stayed truer to the looks of the original ships. The Adder is another case in point.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It might shock you but I find the FdL quite ugly and boring. It looks cheap like a puffed up Hauler with extra engines bolted on. It is a good BH ship though. Fortunately when I fly it I won't see its exterior ;).

The only problem I have with the FDL is the placement of the cockpit window bars: they obscure the text on the HUD for a selected item directly ahead of you. This, IMO, is a bit dumb.

I don't know why HUD elements don't display over the top of cockpit bars; isn't this information meant to be projected from the inside anyway? It's like it's being projected from the outside, which makes no sense.
