The only thing that works is direct mode!

Hi folks. I'm very new to E:D but I'm already having a blast with the game. I decided, after reading a few glowing reviews of the experience, that I wanted to plug in my little-used DK2 and see what flying a spaceship was like in VR. I followed a step-by-step guide I found on the Oculus forums for how to get E:D set up and working in the Rift using Extended mode only to find that when I booted the game up, I was getting what looked like two images in each eye-piece. I tried a number of different fixes but ultimately quit in frustration. I went and tried some other demos on my Rift using direct mode and then eventually decided to try E:D again. Bam - it worked without a hitch in Direct Mode.

Now I will say that I had no end of trouble using the mouse in the Nav screen and a few other small menu-related glitches that I've seen some other people complaining about.

Have other people experienced anything like this? Could my mouse woes be related to using direct mode?

are you using an NV GPU? if so nvidia accidentally broke DK2 support in their most recent drivers. you need to rollback to the previous ones, as extended is so much better in elite (for me at least)

check the sticky on this forum. good luck

PS some have said there is a mouse issue since the 1.05 update today. If so that sucks balls a little. It was an issue which was fixed back in gamma. fingers crossed it will be fixed again quickly :)

Did any of the other demos work in extended mode?
Is your orientation set to portrait for your rift in your AMD/Nvidia settings?
Did you follow the setup guide in this forum or just from Oculus forums?
Maybe something has changed since that one was written.
