The ony thing that really really annoys me in ED is the lag

I can not stand getting somewhere and constantly having to overshoot the place because it takes 15 seconds for the lag to catch and so much time is wasted constantly having to circle around target destinations.
I have fiber so I have doubts that this is on my side.
Sometimes dropping out of FSD takes 15 seconds... of blue halo...on average 10 seconds. Its trying...trying showing me that nice SAFE DISENGAGE and I feel like making a samwich while it tries

Its annoying and infuriating when you get heat damage when far away from a star or when you see an escape vector when you are not even being interdicted
I feel like half the time the game struggles to contact the server and get data back, its weird. Sometimes also in stations the bulletin board drops the game to 1 fps while it talks to the server and for 4 or 5 seconds I feel like I am playing the game on a commodore64

So I have no idea if this is a mac client issue or if I am really unlucky but this overshooting targets when cruising and needed to slow down and the ship never slows down until it overshoots the target is the most frustrating thing so far.

Is it just me or do some of you also have these issues? I am in Chicago with a fast connection...

Give you a bump...there are plenty of folks that might be able to help you...I live in NC and have some issue...but not enough where it's causing me to overshoot.

Most of the time lag shows as 'jumping ships'...when you come in and out of supercruise or hyperjump, the networking has to get information to set up the instance before it can release you into it because it doesn't exist.

There are suggestions on how to verify your router is set up to make nice with the servers...

Here's a FAQ that might help:

Dropping in and out of supercruise hides a loading screen. Same as hyperspace between systems, is it possible that it is not internet but hardware related?
I usually get a 3-4 second drop delay when entering/exiting supercruise and a 7-10 second hyperspace sequence from the point the audio makes the jump sound. (You can see my system specs below in my sig).

Just throwing a suggestion here, not sure really what the issue is but eliminating possibilities is always good.

In the same boat as OP. I can play open / groups relatively smoothly maybe once a month (and I must say, it's kind of a blast). Solo gives me rock-solid 60 fps bar near-planet stutter that has returned in 1.3.06 after being eye-wateringly absent since 1.3.00.

One option I have left is VPNing to the UK / US to somehow fool the terrible P2P thing into spitting me into a good instance but getting over the country's firewalls ain't easy.

It's a real shame this.

What lag?
Exactly what I was thinking.

It's a lot of things, but not laggy. Taking time for your ship to drop out of SC or a Jump in no way causes you to drop too close and get heat damage.

I'm in Australia and despite having 300ms ping to the ED server I experience very little lag.

Thank you for telling me that it is not lag that causes the issues I am experiencing...if not lag then what? Or is it just that in your opinion it is not lag and end of story?
Because YOU are not experiencing lag does not mean others are not
