Build used in video also have seen lot of polish it seems. I don't mind - when they come, they will come.

Yeah, wasn't complaining. Just checking that my eyes weren't deceiving me.
In fact I'm really happy that FD are going to push the visuals even further. Very happy with the look of the station in the trailer! It's amazing... can't wait to see it like that in game,
 
Can you give us some insight on how this clip was produced? Things I'd like to know:
  • Details look better detailed in this clip then Beta 2, are you using later versions of object models or are some things added by hand? (mainly surface details of ORBIS)
  • Do you grab clips by just grabbing a clip or do you grab consecutive hi-res images out of your engine?
  • Shadows look very nice and create atmosphere. Is this due to high res capture or is this already a better version of the engine than Beta2?
  • Is there any handwork involved other than scripting the engine and creating the clip in something like After Effects?

But anything else you can share will be appreciated as well!

Quick question...how far off are the 3D buildings (and trees) that are visible in the new promo video to be implemented in a build available for us? ;)

Um.. In due time? In short order? ;) Hopefully not too long. The exact content and timing of builds is a question for Michael really, so I'm afraid I cannot answer that.

There is probably tons of stuff they have internally that they haven't shown us yet...partly because it's WIP, but also since they want to "save up" for the full commercial release later this year. ;)

And blue Danube brings back soo many memories of my c64 elite days- not that i used the docking computer much :)

You know i associate that SO much with elite docking I forget they used it because Kubrick did!

You can still see the inside of the ring. I had a look last night and when not in shadow you can see buildings and greenery etc.. :)

You can see a flat texture yes, but right now we don't have the 3D models inside there in our build. But its coming...soon...

Exciting. In the video I noticed the planets seems to look better. Note that I don't have beta access so I'm judging from youtube videos.
 
This is probably the video I like the most after the Damocles.

I found there are solid models inside the smaller ring... but they are all grey.

So maybe they will be there in the larger ring... just not yet.

I'm decidedly iffy about the shadows. You get them in supercruise - it looks like the shadows you get driving past trees in the car. But then you are going at 60MPH. In supercruise you are travelying at a multiple of the speed of light, and you still get shadows slowly moving across the cab: in the time it takes to do that you have flown a colossal distance, so it just does not feel realistic to me.
 
Beautiful video...and let all those wanting a Blue Danube video something to feast on. I hope the graphics can get close to those in the promo videos by release, as it just looks stunning (the game right now looks great).

And for a shameless plug, the Orbis inspired me to do another little musical video, but no waltzing this time (see the Orbis link in my sig if your interested).
