PSN Community: "The Original The Fuel Rats"

If "The Fuel Rats" want nothing do do with us peasant scum then we must help ourselves.
"The Original The Fuel Rats" is an Elite: Dangerous Squadron and PSN community trying to make those stories about being rescued a reality on the PS4 platform, and a totally new thing based off of in-game hole-advertisments shown at some stations on at one photographed occasion.

How it hopefully is going to work:
We have a new PSN community for this brand new squadron that is a totally original idea based of in game advertisement.

If you need fuel, advice, or whatever message me through PSN and/or post on the PSN Community and we'll make things happen as we are able.

Sorry i'm confused. The Fuel Rats do exist on PS4, and are still doing rescues, as far as i'm aware?

A quick look at the stats page says there's 1283 registered PS4 CMDRs (some will be inactive, or semi-retired like myself), and rescues being done everyday still.
I've personally done over 400 rescues, which i'm sure weren't hallucinations, eg:

Unless something has kicked off very recently, any PS4 CMDRs should still be able to get a refuel, hull repair (although that's secondary and you can call the Hull Seals too), or just information and advice on the game at: https://fuelrats.com/i-need-fuel

If you own a PS4 see what is on https://fuelrats.com that works, or is useful (also the store doesn't work at all right now; the donation page might, but I'm not falling for that trick).
If it isn't a concern to The Fuel Rats that what players looking for help on the PS4 (don't assume people have access or the inclination to use an additional device. Remember we're filthy console peasants.).

Things kicked off off recently, legal threats were apparently made, those threats caved into because people don't understand how the world works and are cowards, and now things become silly until either the people directly involved sort out their non-sense, or a further schism grows too great to ever fill in. Had I not heard that threats of legal action were made I would have likely ignored this beyond commenting, "Who cares? Who uses The Fuel Rats?" and ignored all this, but I became triggered, which being my biggest trigger, meant that I began making things happen to solve the issue as I saw it: for some reason we were talking about The Fuel Rats' administration bullying people trying to be able to help players who don;'t know any better than to be a Jerry (meme include at end of post for reference).
The PSN Community:

FuelRats Ps4 Fans

Contains the side of the story I read enough of to decide to do something because I lack things to do in my life.
I've never bothered with The Fuel Rats before, because the only reason you run out of fuel is you made a mistake and I think making mistakes hurt makes it more likely to avoid them in the future, so I have no idea how The Fuel Rats think things should work in the bizarro PS4 version of E:D. I don't care what they think. I did get a little drunk and think this would be amusing and all my friends who normally distract me before I actually do anything outside of the PS4 version of the universe. I also have excess free time and am mostly concerned with entertaining myself. I want to believe this is all one big misunderstanding, but mostly I thought my friends would find this funny.

The TL:DR is that The Fuel Rat administration that, since the website does not work with the PS4 browser, a reasonable group would partner with the active PS4 player-base in order to provide a method to request assistance that one could actually do on the PS4 alone (according to a dude I don't know).

Am I correct in thinking that the real TLDR is that https://fuelrats.com/ doesn't work in the PS4 web browser for some reason?
That's what I'm saying.
If so then that seems like a fairly easy problem to fix, certainly doesn't appear to deserve all this rage and talk of creating a new group?
I was told some of the players who were trying to do a PS4 method of solving the problem for PS4 players were threatened with legal action if they didn't cease and desist in the usage of the imagery, phrases, and name of The Fuel Rats outside of the https://fuelrats.com/ and the players on PS4 just needed to do what they were told. Being the sorts who involve themselves with The Fuel Rats they became scared and shut down what they had set up to work on the PS4 in a manner someone who doesn't know any better than Jerry what to do. This whole new PS4 only "The Original The Fuel Rats" is me proving to people who what to use "The Fuel Rats" mythos on the PS4 platform that they're perfectly within their right to, and I'll risk getting sued over it because they're never going to sue me and actually be able to win any case.
As far as the rage and making a group and promoting the group heavily, well, I am rarely sober and I just kinda find myself having started to do something and I'm not going to just stop because it's a terrible idea.
P.S. I'm curious - why do you describe yourself as a "filthy console peasant"?
You don't know that meme?

Quick fact-check (after doing a bit of investigation) for those curious about this.

So apparently, although the fuelrats.com website itself works fine on the PS4 there's a technical issue with the standard Fuel Rats IRC that's used for rat/client comm's acrosss across all platforms which is that the PS4 tends to disconnect the IRC when you switch back to the game. As a consequence, on accessing the website PS4 clients are directed to use their phone or other device instead since that will provide a more reliable service. Seems like a fairly reasonable workaround to me.

:ROFLMAO: fair enough

Sorry, me having a little dig really ... when console players use these derogatory terms about themselves I like to question it because it sort of implies that everyone is using these terms so they may as well do it too ... I think that's dangerous and can lead to percieved persecution becoming widely accepted as the norm. 😟

... the usage of the imagery, phrases, and name of The Fuel Rats...
I can't comment on the legal action, but representing yourself as an existing group kinda violates Wheaton's Law. When the Hull Seals started no-one had a problem, because they called themselves a different name, despite obvious connotations.
Maybe call your fuelling group a unique name, and see how things go?

That's not how I roll. I would like to have nothing to do with this, but the people who tolerate my antics were being annoying about this so I'm going to make it either better, or hilarious.

I agree with you that there is a work around, but the issue is that it requires a separate device to access the the site, which not everybody on PS4 is going to have access to. We do have access to a number of PS4 only methods of communicating that arguably makes the lives of everybody easier, as it's not like someone on PS4 is going to get any help from somebody on not-PS4 at this time anyways since, you know, the game isn't cross-platform outside of BGS.

I'm literally not allowed in the chats groups of people in the squadron that I normally associate with because I have some issues with maintaining any degree of control over the words that I keep writing, or images I will produce. My normal group are the people who can appreciate humor that's self derogatory because we aren't boring people without a sense of humor, or at least that's my perception. I'm always intoxicated on as many substances as I find available: my judgement is not to be trusted, and I am should not be emulated. However since everyone I normally make sure I'm not going to far with my words and behaviors ended going to sleep after getting me all triggered over their conversation ended up going to sleep before I thought this, creating an intentionally offensive to the non-PS4 players, amount of things that my friends would never need to speak of it again.

I do it because I love Elite: Dangerous and players on PS4 often don't have access to extra devices to browse the web on. I know they don't have the degree of being a troll to call a bluff on a lawsuit.

The people of this follow that rule blindly because they care about things that are stupid.
Robert A. Heinlein said:
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.
In my mind my behavior is justified by "The Fuel Rats" on PC and Xbox acting like either internet tough guys, or just without any regard for the PS4 players that don't want to have to use IRC to ask if somebody can save them from their mistake when there are better integrated options for us PS4 kids which PC and Xbox players would never know we were using if somebody didn't think that blindly repeating threats of people who they can't actually fly with at this this time to people who get scared easily.
Wheaton's Law has no teeth is ignored by people who know how to get done.

Do you know the story of "The Mouse That Roared?

I am really confused as to what the issue is.

I briefly joined the fuelrats in the early days of PS4, even going as far as building a dedicated ratting ship, but never felt comfortable actually going out on rescues so stopped.
Even then, it was painfully clear that in order to rescue or be rescued, you needed to coordinate via a separate device to the PS4.

That advertisement was put in for the fuelrats that started on pc, before xbox, and before ps4 was a thing. Since things are the same across all three platforms, and at one time mac, thats why its there.

I dont know about the legal side of things or what all happened there but i can see why the fuel rats would get upset with you calling yourself "the original" fuel rats.

No, the name is "The Original The Fuel Rats".
If you’re not using fuel plasmas to instantly transport people back to civilization, you might as well scrap the whole project.
I like this more than my original idea of just middlemanning fuel rescues for PS4 players without an alternate device to contact The Fuel Rats through IRC.

The issue is that people who need help on PS4 don't necessarily have an additional device to call for help on and the non-PS4 The Fuel Rats apparently doing their best to prevent PS4 players from setting up a system for those players to be able to receive assistance for <reasons>. I'm not clear on the <reasons> The Fuel Rats in the non-PS4 universe have to be so opposed to setting anything up that makes sense in the PS4 universe.

I'm doing this because I'd been "on the OnionHead and booze" and my friends were talking about the issue, so I'm making it go away one way or the other.

I can see it now.

*goes to lawyer

"Hi, a rival company has stolen my company name."

Lawyer says "Well that's not nice is it? Where did this happen?"

"In a video game called Elite Dangerous."

Lawyer be like "Okay. Erm... Door is to the left and that'll be £500 for my time. Have a good day."

Imagine thinking video game RP is protected by law...

Why must you ruin everything I've been working towards?
Couldn't you have just imagined the hilarity of them throwing cash at this.

Dooood....
I may like seeing people suffer but costing them IRL cash is my line.

Surprisingly, I actually have morals.
