The packs that you changed your opinion on the most

Im sure im not the only one who changed his opinion about certain packs very drasticly. So im curious on which DLCs you change your opinion off strongly, for better or worse.

For me the Twilight Pack made a complete 180. I wasnt a fan of it at first, like at all. Wasnt to hyped about the animals, scenery wasnt that appealing and to get a bunch of halloween decorations was pretty scary, and not in a good way.
But ive come around on this pack and now its one of my favorites, the animals are just incredibly well made and usefull. The raccoon is THE NA animal in european zoos with the skunk not that far off. Wombats are just an amazing addition to the oceania roster, the bats were super fresh at the time and the foxes, while still not my favorites, are admittedly a nice addition to the temperate areas of NA and eurasia.
The scenery also won me over, dont get me wrong i still dont like the halloween stuff, but take that aside and you got super nice and universally usefull pieces.

A weird one is the Aquatic Pack, it used to be my favorite pack, and if i can only have one DLC it would probably be the one. But basicly everything in this pack lost most of its appeal due to other packs being released afterwards.
For example every animal in this pack now has an alternative that i like better (African penguin, sea lion, spec caiman and the asian small clawes otter). The scenery also took quite a hit imo, while its still nice, we also have alot of option nowadays that you can use instead. Even the beloved faux rocks now have some competition in the stalagmit pieces and those small faux pebbles from the europe pack (i think).
Kinda sad to see a once amazing pack to loose so much of its value over time, to no real fault of its own :)

Clearly Twilight Pack. At the very First Look I was a little bit disappointed about the animal selection. But honestly it was a great Pack with good scenery and also a high percentage of animals which were very unique compared to the actual roster before. The only "Clone" was the Red Fox and even it became a high Attention with unique Walking Animations and the high number of color morphs. And it was the introduction of the WTE bringing us a completely new feature.
Now I am the opinion it was one of the best Packs we got. Perhaps still not my favourite animal selection but I do Not mind that much. Even critics like NA 2.0 Pack I cannot fully understand. We got 2 Out 5 NA animals. The Red Fox lives in NA but it is also an European, Asian and even North African animal. As a European I connect it to Europe myself.

To be honest, it has to be the Arid pack. At first, I was kind of harsh to it (I was not dissapointed, but surprised? by the number of ungulates), but I have really changed my mind about it and I try to see the positive. zoos keep dozens of ungulates, they are easy to take care of, usually does not require specialized care and they work as a great filler species. I have been using those Arid pack ungulates alot. If I should judge the pack only I would probably still say it is one of the least diversive packs, but in the bigger picture of the whole game, those are just great additions. In the end, it will not matter what animals came in what packs after all.

Aquatic has progressively slipped further down my rankings as the novelty of diving wore off and expanded to more and more species past and future. Even though getting a penguin, pinniped, and otter were all totally essential, the specific species chosen for it always felt a bit wonky, so I'm glad that they've all been followed up with better alternatives. I still wish we could get an alternative seal specifically, though.

Wetlands is another one that felt really novel and flashy at first, only for me to slowly come to terms with the fact that, yeah, the two ungulates were strange choices, the caiman was a strange choice, the specific crane chosen wasn't actually ideal, and the platypus was simply never going to be for me. Overall I'm left with two 10/10 animals and the crane that I feel obligated to use nonstop because it's our only crane.

On the flip side, Africa has done nothing but rise the ranks. My initial disappointment that animal packs weren't the new norm has long subsided (even though I still wish it had been the case), and I've since realized that this pack has what is probably the single most stacked lineup of any DLC pack.

I've actually been pretty consistent about my opinions on all the DLC, I think. I was thinking, "I like the SEA Animal Pack less than when it was announced," but that's not actually true - that was the only DLC I didn't buy right away, so I didn't think too highly of it back then either.

I only grabbed Twilight for the bat. I still think it's kind of cruddy overall. I liked Arid, and still like it.

In my case it has to be the Southeast Asia animal pack. As the 1st animal pack, it had a huge novelty and popularity to have 8 species instead of 5. However, over time I lost interest in it, not because of the animal choices or roster, necessarily. Just because there are so many other animals I prefer.
(But also the clouded leopard and tapir are a little wonky)

A pack I initially didn't care about but now love is the Europe pack. Nothing against the DLC, but I wasn't very excited for the animals we got. At least, not at first. Since then, I've loved the fallow deer as my personal favorite of that DLC, as well as the rustic pieces. I use them so often because they can kinda fit various areas

I’m stubborn and don’t waver from my opinions much, but the Europe pack has slid down some for me. Realizing I’ve tended to use most of the animals only for special situations or themes. The exception being the badger.

I still love the building pieces though. It’s just the animals have all kind of been relegated to “eh, they’re okay” status

At first I didn’t see a need for the Europe pack and never built for the animals.

Then I started a zoo that was located in the Netherlands and started off with a local section, and my opinion is now that this pack is pure gold.

Along with the NA and Twilight pack, these two would be the only ones I would need.

What I find amusing is that some of the animals I was most looking forward to in certain DLC's are ones I've barely touched yet. Some that come to mind are the lynx, ibex, sea lion, and wombat.

Africa pack, I wasn't as excited (I did look forward to it, just not as hyped as others) for the animals but god damn that pack was the best in terms of building pieces with plaster. I use plaster for my modern builds a lot and this pack was a dream for building parts.
