Ships The Panther Clipper Mk II Owners Club.

Hi All :)

Although the Panther Clipper Mk 2 at this present moment in time of posting has not actually been released yet, I thought it might be perhaps a good Idea to create this topic in anticipation of this Iconic Ships debut into the world of Elite Dangerous.
(If the Forum Moderators or Frontier have any prior plans surrounding this ships release in respect of a 'Club' then feel free to delete this topic if inappropriate at this time!)* ;)

*If not then this topic is intended to be a place for players who want to join this club and discuss various aspects of the ship and it's role within this Club.
Any suggestions or ideas in the form of general media surrounding this topic, and specifically the Club's future activities, would be most welcome! :)

Jack :)

Panther Clipper MK II (Gold Livery: CG Event Only)

Hi All :)
I'm in the Club! :D
Okay, I've bought two Panther Clippers, one Stellar and one for credits which I'm presently messing around with testing out modules for different uses.
The Stellar I've not altered (zero rebuy), I use it for transportation only, but with the occasional combat against npc pirates when I'm interdicted. The one I've bought for credits has a 38 million re-buy cost. 😬...but it's got a handy 45.62Ly jump range and the ZPG Gold Paint Job.
My only gripe at the moment is those two bright bars on the left hand side of the cockpit sometimes obscuring the target distance indicator when docking at stations ect....but I expect that might be fixed in another patch as many players have reported this.

Otherwise I'm very pleased with my two Panthers! 🤗
Has anybody else bought a Stellar version?

I did get the Stellar. I don't care about the usefulness to deploy those at a whim (and the standard E-rated unlock is arguably useless for this), but I wanted the ship kit and the paint. If you disregard the paint, getting them seperately is a few ARX less, but then again my understanding is that the paints with the Stellar editions are unique, so...

I got the Stellar to get the ship kit and the A rated modules. I have a rebuy of under 4 million (only the prismatic c7 and some small stuff), I figured that would be less expensive than getting a reactive armor to reduce chances of getting blown up 🤷‍♂️ .

Hi All :)

I've been testing out my Stellar version (zero re-buy) at the current CG, no cargo in Open, mainly to see how it fares against those 'scallywags' that patrol the area just outside (or even inside) the no fire zone.
Fairly impressed so far, it seems to stand up to a bit of a battering, enough to calmly jump to another system, but I suspect a sustained attack (If I don't jump out) for more than a couple of minutes would see me at the re-buy screen eventually. In it's standard Stellar form it's nowhere near a combat vessel! 😬
That's okay though, for general hauling in Solo it surpasses my Cutter in a few ways, but my Cutter is armed to the teeth, a reasonable jump range compared to the Panther Stellar, and built like a tank, so for those stacked transport missions in Solo or Open I'll use either my Panther (MK3 The tanked engineered one) or my Cutter.

Side note...I think it's a shame we can't mount a gimballed weapon of some sort to the top of the Spoiler (Included in the kit) that would give a nice all-round defence area I reckon! ...yeah, I know, It's not gonna happen. :D

I arxed the normal for hauling (armed, shielded, guardian boosted, 31.77 LY laden, 1152 tons) and a second one for credits as a mission-runner.

Stacking pirate-lord-missions, dealing with triple Pirate Corvettes at once with 896 tons in the hold: The Panther Fragger.

It is more fun to fly than the Cutter and the combat performance in this role is equal. Even with a 7A/B SCB for more serious combat, you still have 768 tons of cargo, which is 60 tons more in a shielded Cutter.

The 2 Frag-Turrets in the forward C2s are very effective on flybys. The upper C1 Beams and the aft C2 MCs deal a lot of damage, because they are constantly on target.
