Space truckin' seriously for the first time and ~75% Entrepreneur, and I realize for the first time just how ready you need to be to lose your kitted out Type 9.

I'm out in Colonia looking for profitable routes (few) and well paying missions (drying up) and I knew it would be a slog, but Goddess! my wreckage is all over Eol Prou!

I've lost at least ten Type 9's so far.

You Traders out there find this to be the case?

Frankly I do my trading in a Cutter. Yeah, silly rank lock. Kitted up it is not so vulnerable and can run if necessary. Okay, I only carry about 480 but I feel really safe.

Edit; good thing too at the rebuy cost

P.S.S. Hats off to those trading in a type "x". Not easy unless you are really good at running/evading.

You make enough in Colonia to support this level of loss?

I've got ~560MCr, so I can lose a bunch of Type 9's.

The drive for Elite Trader is the goal right now. After that Elite Combat. I'm already an Elite Explorer.

The challenge with Colonia is that you can't equip your ship with an optimum build, unless you ship one out there. Do you have something in the Bubble that could be shipped out? It's costly, I know.

Alternative might be to buy a very cheap T-7 at Colonia and run it with minimal shields. It won't carry as much, but might avoid more interdictions, so that although you have to do more runs, the losses are less. T-9 is probably an interdiction magnet.

Or ... fit a fighter hangar in the T-9 and launch a SLF if you get interdicted. The SLF will soak up attention while you get away. I've done that successfully in my T-10 ;)

Last time visited Colonia, the problem wasn't getting the ship, but finding the top range modules (like fsd, power units, D rated life support), so it may well be a case of building one in the bubble and flying it out there...
Strangely, if you write off your A rated ship (dock at Colonia first!), the replacement has all the modules you can't buy at Colonia....

It's worth getting the engineers' blueprints stored before leaving!

Hm, so far I've used my T9 for Mining and after the buff for regular Trading. Didn't lose one yet around Colonia.
It's Mil-Grade and (legacy) G5-Engineered though, so at least it isn't paper-thin for what it's worth.

What happened (?)
