The perfect storm of instancing glitches and incompetance

Flying into the CG station in my T7 with a hold full of Lithium.

Takes a bit of time to come out of SC as there are so many CMDRs in the instance.

When I do come out as I'm boosting to wards the station to get into the no fire zone I start taking hits, shield is going down quickly, but can't see any attacker on my scanners!

So I figure I'll try and get to the slot as fast as I can, just duck in behind what looks like a fed drop ship that is about to go in.

Looks like I'm gonna make it, then.... SURPRISE!

Some top gun in a Cutter suddenly bobs up into the slot from the inside, completely filling it.

Chaos ensures outside as everyone tries to avoid him and I slam into the toast rack. My shields are down already, so I don't know if it was the toast rack or the phantom menace outside that got me in the end....

**grumble grumble, mutter mutter hurrumpf**

I believe you are piloting what people call The Flying Coffin. You got some real chutzpah flying in Open at the Community Goal, I applaude your moxie kid.

Hope you had enough for the rebuy + cargo loss.

Here's something to cheer you up.

Couldn't disagree more, it's the ONLY trader ship that has a real chance surviving a PVP encounter.

That's because it's one of the best ships for escaping interdictions.

It's the only reason I do trade CGs, just on the off chance someone will try to interdict me. It's the most even, skills based PvP contest in the game.

Granted, if they get you into real space, you may as well just switch to the external camera and enjoy the light show.

The T7 is a fine ship and very survivable in combat encounters when properly equipped (money) and it still carries 272t of cargo. Are there ships faster? Better shielded? More armor? Sure. Look at the total package though.

300+ shields, +320 speed, and I forget the armor numbers off the top of my head. 500+? So is any ship lesser in these categories also a death trap?

"Numbers are the numbers" and the T7 is no different in this numbers game.
The tag "Flying Coffin" for the T7 always mystifies me.

I see "How to trade in open" vids from multiple sources.
They feature the T-7.

Wish someone would do one for the T-9. But I suspect you've just got to take the rebuy.

They are pretty elusive when getting interdicted.

I believe that's what they jest about.

If you're talking pure traders.. maybe, but even then I'm not sure I agree.

Otherwise trade Cutters, Anacondas, Clippers, Corvettes etc are quite capable of surviving.

It's not, a few months ago frontier nerfed the interdictor side to oblivion. NPCs used to be too good at interdicting so they decided to make ALL interdictions harder, even if its a player. Nowadays you can easily escape the interdiction with absolutely no effort regardless of what ships are there. The interdicted's bar barely even loses points if you're outside of the escape vector. It's absolutely not a "even skill based" game, there's an artifical barrier that makes it far more difficult for the interdictor now.

Thing is, in my experience anyway, PvP encounters are usually extremely one-sided.

If you get interdicted in your trade conda or cutter, it'll tend to be my a wing of over-engineered FDLs, so your chances of surviving are again slim. Any less-capable griefers will just leave you alone.

But in the T7 you've always got a better-than-evens chance of escaping whatever is trying to ruin your day and making it to the NFZ because of their manoeuvrability in SC.

Actually, what they did was *fix* the interdictions, making it possible again to evade them. There was a bug that if you crossed between two planetary spheres of influence the interdiction attempt would always just succeed.

To the one getting interdicted it looked like the escape vector suddenly flipped and was behind you when you crossed some invisible line in space. So everybody was just submitting and trying to high-wake out of trouble.
