I haven't done a lot of exploring recently and, as the new scanning system actually make it much less of a grinding yawnfest, I thought I'd give it a go. I'd heard the Krait Phantom made a good explorer vessel so, instead of buying a new ship I re-purposed my RES scrapper, the Veracity.
And what a damn good explorer ship it is. With a Guardian booster I get a 65 ly range with shields and a planetary hanger, which is great, but the real revelation is how cool it runs. Around 25% in supercruise. This means I can get in close and scoop all the fuel I need while lining up for the next jump without the ubiquitous "Temperature Critical" warning. Indeed, I have yet to see the temperature rise above 68% while scooping.
Aside from the Guardian FSD booster, the only non-stock module I'm using is the FSD (Grade 5 Increased Range + Mass Manager).
