The Phoenix Chronicles: An Arrow in the Dark

Hello all,

I decided to make an "Interactive Narrative" that is really like a short campaign to play through that tells a story, much like other games have. I hope you enjoy it, and if so, maybe I'll make more in the future. There are 16 Missions, many of which have optional bonus objectives, a handful of other very small objectives, and is separated into 3 Chapters. Maybe do the primaries first, and the bonuses a second round through; up to you! It utilizes a lot of Odyssey gameplay (and thus that expansion is required) as well as some Horizons stuff. I'll try to use Spoilers so you don't accidentally read ahead if you don't want. I realize I'm not the best story teller but I wanted to provide a small piece of a single-player campaign experience for anyone looking for the same. I found it fun to play through and figure out and maybe it will inspire others to do something similar :)

Basic info and rules:
-These are meant for Single Player, though can be done with multiple...some missions may just lose a lot of difficulty from it.
-A mission fails (and thus you must start over) when you die. Some missions have additional "Failure Criteria."
-There is a bug from crappy programming that allows you to avoid being scanned by on-foot military personnel by jumping and using your jetpack. This is Strictly Forbidden and cheating in these scenarios! Don't do it or it will be too easy/boring.
-With the exception of the final Bonus Mission, all of the on-foot missions are meant to be done without the use of an SRV, and I strongly recommend you keep to that.
-At the time of finishing this, none of the settlements were at war. If one currently is, and thus is a CZ that can't really be interacted with, you may either wait for the war-state to be over or choose another settlement with the same Threat Level and Type (Agricultural, Industrial, Military, etc).
-Most (tho intentionally not all) of the settlements used are currently Anarchy to help prevent you from getting bounties and are controlled by factions that make sense in the story. Obviously this can change, especially since the current BGS state with Odyssey Anarchy systems is .
-One settlement was powered down/on fire and I used it that way for sake of story and mission variety. This can change at the flip of a coin, and I list options you may choose from for if it is no longer powered down/on fire.
-ALSO NOTE: at the completion of this, all settlements except 1 were powered and operational. If this changes (sounds like it already has for 1 or two), you can either find a settlement in the same powered/unpowered state, same type, and similar +/- 1 threat level, or roll with the changed settlement type and maybe get a slightly different gameplay experience from others or from a second play through. As Capt Planet says: The Power is Yours!

And let's begin...

CHAPTER ONE: INVESTIGATION

Incoming Message:

Commander, this is Fleet Admiral Luke Shilver. Word of your accomplishments, skills, and courage has reached my ear. I am in dire need of your assistance. My fleet is currently spread thin, and I’m not sure who I can trust. A low-profile pilot of exemplary skills such as yourself may prove exactly what I need. I have job for you. It may be longer term than the simple “exterminate the vermin and return for your reward” or “fetch me some medical supplies and then be on your way.” As I mentioned, I’m not sure who I can trust and I barely know who you are, so I must be light on the details, but if you accept I’ll provide you with all the information you need to complete your missions safely. You will be helping me in uncovering what I fear to be a sinister plot that will not only help the Empire, but also the galaxy as a whole. Will you accept my job offer, aid me in many missions to come, and help avert a potential galactic disaster?

Task: Accept the Mission

Incoming Message:

Excellent. I’ve been so inundated with searching for the right person that I haven’t had time for myself. My saxophone is getting dusty and I’m beginning to forget the notes. Let’s get this done and we can both go home to our significant others, our hobbies, and whatever else it is we do for leisure. I cannot send you the details over long-range tight beam communications. Even encrypted, they can be intercepted and eventually cracked, and I want this operation to remain under the radar. Travel to the Condi system, where you will find a settlement called Wacera Spa. It’s a quaint little town with a bar that often has live music. Sometimes Jazz. However, they do have their own security force, which is to my advantage but not yours. I left instructions on one of the Habitat Data Ports for your first mission. Land at the landing pad. On one side of you will be the Power Station. Face the other direction and you will see a bar between 5 habitat buildings. You need to stealth your way into the second habitat building from the left and download all of the data from the habitat port. I have a guard or two that stay in that building keeping an eye on my personal effects and personal data that you’ll have to elude. You MUST NOT raise any alarms. You MUST NOT tamper with the settlement at all; no disabling alarms or powering down the reactor. You MUST NOT kill, knockout, or harm anyone in any way! These are good people and I have gone through lengths to find a secure location to upload this information for someone like you. Failure and I will go with another candidate. Consider this your audition for the task. Contact me after you leave the settlement and jump into Supercruise.

Mission 1:

1) Download all of the data from the habitat data port in the 2nd habitat from the left, when looking at the bar from the landing pad.

**The mission fails if any alarms are raised or you kill, knockout, or harm anyone in any way.
Good Job! Even with Wacera’s top of the line security team, I didn’t want to risk this getting into the wrong hands, so I encrypted it and broke it into 4 fragments. You will need to download the necessary program fragments to decrypt it to be fully briefed on the Op I am running. I have secretly uploaded my decryption algorithm into the memory drives of Blackwood Port and Provincial Navy Showground in Lushu; having it in multiple sites gives greater security. I need you to hack the “Hackable Data Transmitters” on the installations…but there is something you should know first. This is an unauthorized installation home to pirates and is frequently under attack. Simply dropping in out of Supercruise, you are likely to get scanned by pirates, if not then authority personnel. Remember you are carrying sensitive information and it must go unnoticed that you are there. Do not announce yourself by picking a side in any conflict that arises while you are there. At Blackwood Port, being Scanned even if clean, receiving a fine of any kind, including hacking or trespassing, as well as receiving any bounty while there will nullify our deal and fail this mission. Luckily I have a man on the inside at Provincial Navy Showground though who can erase any minor infractions, such as trespassing, from their database. Thus same rules apply as Blackwood, except getting fines/bounties from trespassing is not an issue here. You have to make it seem as if you weren’t even there. If a battle does break out among the factions, stay hidden and use the chaos to blend in and get the data. I’m sure a pilot with your talents can find a way to circumvent the scanners, and be swift enough to not get caught trespassing! Oh, and the other catch is that since the fragments need to be put together (should happen automatically), they must be on the same system as each other and thus you must use the same ship for all Data Transmitters.

The information you carry will debrief you on the Op and give you your first real assignment. I’m still travelling but hoping after that we can meet in-person.

Mission 2:

1) Hack the “Hackable Data Transmitter” on Blackwood Port in Lushu.
**The mission fails if during part 1 you are successfully scanned, if you attack any ships or other components of the installation, if you receive any fine, or if you receive any bounty. This mission also fails if you choose a side to any conflict/fight that occurs while you are there, even if you don’t attack any ships.
2) Hack "Data Transmitter 0", "Data Transmitter 1", and "Data Transmitter 2" at Provincial Navy Showground.
**Part 2 fails if you are successfully scanned or if you attack any ships or other components of the installation. You are allowed to get trespassing fines due to the 'man on the inside' able to wipe those transgressions.
**Data Decryption running…. 25%...50%...75%...90%...Complete!

Recent attacks have been happening across the galaxy, largely by Thargoids and by the NMLA. While aiding support for one of the stations, I noticed discrepancies. Discrepancies in the official aftermath report and what survivors were saying on the transport vessels. Discrepancies in their wounds. Discrepencies in the damage to the station and blast marks. I delved further and while almost all of the other station attacks seem to be from the aforementioned groups, there have been two cases where the facts do not line up. During the evacuation of the second, of which I was the first Military vessel on site, another ship had just boosted away. I had one of my covert operatives take a small craft from my carrier, scan the wake, and follow it across the galaxy. Big Sebastian, as we called him, was detected early on and captured. He is a horse of a man and has the mouth of an a…jerk so I’m sure he didn’t do himself any favors while captured, but right before being boarded he was able to send out a brief message saying that he made it to Banda. It was not the final destination but he was detected when a botched hyperspace jump dropped him too close to the star forcing immediate aggressive maneuvers. Also the nearest damaged station to Banda was “one of their tests.” This occurred only hours ago. Your task is to look up the nearest damaged station to Banda, fly all the way out there; it may be far, and perform search and rescue. Drop the survivors off at the nearest medical facility and my people will interrogate them. As a bonus, turn in any black boxes or other useful hardware that may be floating around the station. 200 Survivors should be a large enough sample size; after you are done, contact me again and I’ll tell you where to meet me face-to-face.

Mission 3:

1) Rescue 200 survivors from the nearest damaged space station. [OOC/out of character: It really doesn’t matter which spaceport you pick.]

Bonus:

1) Collect 10 items and debris floating around the station to aide in the investigation.
Good job. My men have already begun the interrogation and found some interesting information. Please come to Maccurdy City in Teaka while they finish their job. I started working undercover under the name Whitney Ewing. You can find me at the bar in the main concourse.

Task:

1) Meet Luke, undercover as Whitney, in Maccurdy City in Teaka.
Welcome! While in this setting, I am Whitney Ewing. Give me a second to give these customers some drinks.
Ahh, there we go. You’ve come at a good time, the bar has died down a bit. So after you left that burning hell-hole of a station, my interrogation team learned of a surveillance network that was spotted being set up by a survivor only days before the attack. Well my team found an intact transmitter and traced its signal to being broadcast to Apalar. Unfortunately there was no data stored onsite, so we still have no idea what they were testing, though it looks like a weapon of sorts based on the condition of the base. Apalar is a small to medium Anarchy system near to here. The system we are in now is one of the largest systems in the area, and thankfully has some form of government. Due to this, many travelers from surrounding systems gather here from time to time, so there is a good chance if something were to go down, I’d hear about it early through local chatter. What I need you to do now is to get on the inside with the Apalar Purple Raiders: the syndicate that controls Apalar and many of the surrounding systems and stations. If something big is being researched here, they are either behind it or know about it. Raise your reputation with them until they consider you an ally. At that point, let’s hope they bring you in-the-know to what’s going on. Also, remember this Op is highly classified. The terrorists of the galaxy would love to have their spies getting their hands on this information. As such the only information archive we keep for this Op is being kept at our Primary Naval space installation under tight security, and I expect you to keep your lips just as sealed. One slip up and it’s treason against the galaxy, so please remember the Secret nature of this task. Now go and infiltrate their ranks with haste and care.

Mission 4:

1) Do what it takes to raise your reputation to “Ally” in the Apalar Purple Raiders faction. Then meet with Whitney Ewing (Luke) at Maccurdy City in Teaka.
Congratulations, you have successfully infiltrated some anarchic pirates! And they gave you a mission too? Let’s see it.
Luke takes a minute to look over the briefing transmission. It says they need a full specimen of Stratum found in the Serklich system. That shouldn’t be too difficult, that stuff seems to grow everywhere. This second part, having to steal the Sample from the Sample Containment Unit from Phillips Chemical Complex in Gelong, is going to be tough. I know they told you no rules and to just get the sample, but remember those are good people there and you will get a bounty if you break the law. But do it how you wish; I have no counter-mission for this. Just do what they said, give the biological specimen to the Vista Genetics agent at Svavarsson Terminal in Apalar and give the Sample to the bartender there. Hopefully upon completing these for them, you will be privy to more information.

Mission 5:

1) Find a complete biological sample (3 partial samples) of a type of Stratum found in the Serklich system. Bring it to the Vista Genomics agent in Svavarsson Terminal in Apalar.

Bonus:
1) Find a complete biological sample of another type of Stratum from comparison and further research. This can be done from any system.
Incoming Transmission: We appreciate the work you have been doing for us. Truth be told, you haven’t actually been working for Apalar Purple Raiders, but instead Apalar Black. We are a subsect of the Purple Raiders using primarily their facilities, tho a few of other factions in the area, to do our work. We work on a more classified level so I can’t go into anymore detail, but I just want to extend our gratitude on behalf of all of us. Please get us the Sample and then wait to hear more from us.

Mission 6:

1) Steal the sample from the Sample Containment Unit from Phillips Chemical Complex in Gelong system. Bring it to the bartender in Svavarsson Terminal in Apalar.
2) Meet with Whitney back at the Maccurdy City

Bonus:
1) Do it without setting off any alarms
2) Avoid killing or knocking out anyone prior to shutting off the alarms
I’ve been listening around and learned something interesting. We had a small group of miners in here the other day from Hassatra. They were talking about how since they discovered a new isotope of Liquid Oxygen found in the rings of Hassatra 2, there have been an increase of pirates sent from Apalar. I heard them guessing it’s being weaponized due to its volatile state in the right conditions. I don’t believe in coincidences. I want you to go to Hassatra 2 and retrieve a refined sample of the Liquid Oxygen found there. I’m not going to ask how you plan on doing it, but I’m just going to pretend you are mining it yourself instead of stealing from the poor miners. You know what, just to make sure some good comes out of it for that small system, why don’t you spend a little time and help rid them of some pirates while you are at it.

Mission 7:

1) Retrieve 1 unit of Liquid Oxygen (refined, not a single sample fragment) from the Hazardous Resource Extraction Site in the rings of Hassatra 2.
2) Destroy 12 Wanted Criminals in the Hazardous Resource Extraction Site in the rings of Hassatra 2.
3) Return to Whitney at Maccurdy City.

Bonus:
1) Retrieve 5 units of Liquid Oxygen
2) Destroy 3 Elite Criminals, in addition to the 12 required.
Good work, CMDR! I’ll have my people analyze this to try to figure out what it is being used for. In the meantime, sit tight. I’ll reach out to you when I have something else. Continue to gain the trust of the Purple Raiders and infiltrate their ranks. I’ll talk to you later.

CHAPTER 2

CHAPTER 2: OFFENSIVE

Incoming Message: This is a message from Arrysa Inyit, Commander of the Apalar Black Fleet. Our INM-570 Sagan Class Traveller Megaship is under attack by the Empire’s Penal faction. I don’t know how they discovered us but we must repel this incursion. We need every Ace pilot we can get. I heard you’ve been extremely helpful to both Apalar Purple Raiders as well as us, CMDR, and have provided us with necessities. I’ve also been told you are quite the pilot and have some guns to spare. Last communication with the megaship was in the Apalar system, but it may have made an emergency evasive jump to a nearby system to make time for a defense. Get up here immediately and help us thwart the enemy, and then we can talk about your future with us.

Mission 8:

1) Immediately search for the INM-570 Sagan Class Traveller Megaship, likely in Apalar but possibly a nearby system, and help with a successful defense by defeating each wave of enemies. [OOC you may have to get close and scan the megaship for the attack to start, with a slight chance of having to wait several minutes or relog].
Incoming Message: Thank you for the support, CMDR. Our forces surely needed the help. It may be obvious to you now that this Megaship isn’t what it appears. It’s our primary transport ship to move our classified tech throughout the systems undetected. Everyone else just thinks we are a working tourist ship with exclusive landing privileges. However, we’ve found a way to combine a rare isotope of liquid oxygen with chemicals secreted from local flora into a chemical weapon using a proprietary catalyst that we devised ourselves. Our prototype is complete and has proved successful in our recent tests. We are moving forward with full scale production soon and will need your help escorting and securing the hardware en route. I’ll send you the location soon when shipments are ready.

How does it work? Well aren’t you nosey. I suppose you did just help save most of our shipment for it, and you’ll be escorting it later so it’s good to know more about it from a safety standpoint. Well, our labs have been working on this for some time with many trials and errors. We found a way to combine key ingredients to create a chemical, that when released into air, is highly volatile. All you need is 0.5% in the air to make it combustible. 1% and it can self-combust with just a spark from turning on a light switch. Due to its low volume and that it’s comprised of oxygen, it is nearly undetectable. We float this through the ventilation shafts of our target buildings or starports, and the entire thing becomes an incendiary bomb. Then any ship that also re-supplied its air turns into the same. No one will know you are there. We call it “Snake Juice.” However we transport it in a much more inert liquid form, but if it takes too much damage, say from a beam laser or penetrating railgun blast, it will still ignite. This is why we need our escort to be top notch and on the lookout. We cannot let our transport’s shields go down nor hull weaken enough to allow any penetrating shot.

Task: Meet with Whitney again at the bar and tell him the news.
Interesting turn of events. I heard a pilot that was in that fight and said from a distance, it looked like ten-thousand candles in the wind. With regards to the new intel, it sounds like my suspicions may be correct. I have a new mission for you and I’m not on bar shift tonight so I should be able to stay on comms with you on this one. I overheard chatter from some biological engineers from Gough Cultivation Centre in the Main system. They were clamouring on about their discovery regarding a new way to refine part of some sort of Stratum that grows in nearby systems. It sounds oddly related, especially with the new information you just received on this weapon. If this is indeed an important facility in the production of this weapon, we need to shut it down. Go there and contact me once you land at Gough Cultivation Centre.

OPTIONS:
A) If Gough Cultivation Centre is not powered down/on fire, “set up the scene” by Powering it Down OR look for another Agricultural Settlement that is powered down (I believe state = Pirate Attack)
B) Continue the mission at Gough and if it’s powered up skip #1 and 2 in the mission. Bonus Mission still applies. This does remove some diversity out of the story though.

Task: Land at Gough Cultivation Centre (or other site).
Wow, the place is ablaze! It looks like our work is done for us. Although we should find out what happened here. Power on the settlement and put out the fires. If you don’t have a power regulator, I trust you are resourceful enough to obtain one; just do it quickly. The meatheads didn’t do the best job destroying this place and the containment devices used to hold high-priority samples are nearly bomb proof. See if there are still samples in the Agri building, and if so, take them.

What do you mean why? You don’t need to know all the specifics, but if we know exactly what they were building and how, it will be much easier to build defenses against it for the future. Those samples could contain key data of how they used those stratum.

Also, be careful; burning settlements tend to attract pirates, so watch your back at all times. It’d be best to eliminate them to prevent them from learning that we were there and what this facility was used for. Also don’t forget to power down the facility before leaving to avoid anyone from noticing we were there.

Mission 9:

1) Turn on the power to the facility
2) Put out the fires in the Power and Agri buildings
3) Check all (2 at Gough) Sample Containment Units and take any samples still there.
4) Find a data port and download all data off it.
5) Take the power regulator to power down the facility.

Bonus:

1) Sweep the area for Pirates and Security Personnel before leaving the settlement. Kill all that you find.
That information you discovered was useful. It looks like they have built more than enough of the weapon for their intended uses and the research can continue in their main research hub for the project, which is not listed here. They therefore “downsized” and in an attempt to destroy the evidence, destroyed this facility. It’s a good thing we got there before it was entirely consumed by flames. The data you downloaded does mention a Manufacturing, Testing, and Storage facility that is holding all of their weapons and assets, which is huge news. If we can destroy the facility, personnel, and everything in it, they will no longer have any weapons of mass destruction, nor capability to build more. I know it’s a bit of a dirty job and it may not sit well initially, but remember these are the bad guys and this is for the good of the galaxy. We just need to learn where their research facility is and destroy their database so they can’t replicate the work; hopefully there will be info in the data system there. So first off, the Industrial complex is Toussaint Engineering Forge in Apalar and I’m guessing it’s where you will be starting your escorting duties. Before Apalar Black calls upon you, I need you to go to the Industrial Facility, steal 1 sample of the weapon from them; probably in a containment unit. Then download the data from their industrial data port to learn where the bulk of their research data is coming from. Then destroy their warehouse and lab, turning their Industrial Complex into a useless pile of rubble so they cannot restart their program. Just make sure their alarms are off so they can’t send in reinforcements or identify you to the rest of the facility or Apalar Black. I will not be able to stay on comms with you for this one; you’re on your own.

Mission 10:

1) Disable alarms at Toussaint Engineering Forge in Apalar.
2) Download all data from the Industrial Data Port
3) Steal the Sample from the Sample Containment Unit
4) Remove the Power Regulator to Disable the plant.
5) Kill any Scientists in the LAB of the Industrial Building.
6) Blow up the explosive containers in LOAD, LAB, and PROC of the Industrial Building.

Bonus:
1) Use an E-Breach to “permanently” disable the alarms at Toussaint and don’t kill anyone until you have done so.
2) If your stomach can handle it: Exterminate the remaining personnel in the facility.
*Mission fails If at any point alarms go off
Incoming Broadcast from Arrysa: Our plans have changed. Our Complex that procures our weapon and warehouse housing it have been destroyed in some act of sabotage. We are investigating the source. Instead of escort service, I may send you on an espionage and sabotage mission. I’ll contact you soon with more information once we have ascertained the identity of the attackers.

Task: Meet with Whitney at Maccurdy City.
Yes, I have assumed as much. Their message validates our target and proves we dealt them a huge blow. The data you downloaded from the industrial data port provided a great deal of information about their operation. As we know, the Toussaint facility was just a branch of their network, used for assembly, testing, and storage of the weapons, as well as helping with some research. The hub of their weapon program is a High Tech facility, which we now know from the shipping manifest and data logs you downloaded from Toussaint: Chakladar Astrophysics Facility in Main. It is here where they actually designed and weapon and did the bulk of the manufacturing of it. This is where they keep all of the knowledge and information about this weapons project under lockdown. The entire operation is run out of this facility. We need to knock it out of commission, but in a more discrete and ensuring way than Toussaint. Many mission givers around here have illegal tasks, often uploading destructive network viruses to settlements computers. Look around here and other stations in nearby systems for mission givers to give you such a computer virus. They will obviously expect you to use it for how they want, but ignore them and bring it back to me.

Task: Look for a mission giver that will provide you with a computer virus. Bring it back to Whitney so he may customize it for our intents. [Don’t actually sell it to him]
Good job; let me have a look here. Ah yes this will work nicely. Let me make a couple alterations…add a few lines of code…and done. Now, go to Chakladar and upload the virus onto the Operations datapoint to destroy all of their archived data, Laboratory data point to destroy all of their Lab data, and Security Data Point to get rid of any trace of your identity in case the cameras picked you up…and survive the attack. Lastly, upload it onto the Power Data Point, which will overload the reactor and reduce the settlement to ashes…hopefully after leaving you enough time to escape. Then get out quickly because the reactor will overload and blow up the entire settlement. I don’t care what methods you use as long as you don’t get caught and notify the Apalar fleet; the place will be ash soon after you leave anyway. The catch? The whole place is on edge after the destruction of their industrial complex. If they are even remotely alerted to you being a saboteur, they will call it in, lock down the place, and the mission will be a failure. It may be best to leave everyone unharmed, but it’s your call. But hey, complete this and their entire operation will be destroyed!

Mission 11: [OOC: The game will not actually let you upload the virus on to non-mission related data ports. Instead of literally uploading the virus when it won’t let you, download everything on each data port]

1) “Upload” the Virus to the Operations Data Port
2) “Upload” the Virus to the Laboratory Data Port
3) “Upload” the Virus to the Security Data Port
4) “Upload” the Virus to the Power Data Port

Bonus:
1) Do not kill, knockout, or harm any personnel

**Mission Fails if:
-Alarms are raised
-Any civilian is alerted enough to draw a weapon (even if they don’t shoot it), or any Military personnel is alerted enough to turn on their shields.

CHAPTER 3

CHAPTER 3: DECEPTION

Incoming Message: This is Arrysa Inyit. Our entire weapons operation has been destroyed. Our labs, warehouse, manufacturing center, everything! We have nothing! But hope is not lost yet soldier and we need your help. We have a deep spy network and are not blind to those around us. We have ascertained that the culprit behind these attacks is an underground organization comprising of members of several surrounding factions, predominantily Wikatabar and Kongkomisso anarchic factions, called “Dark Sparta.” There are two people of concern to us that need to be eliminated. The first is man who is currently under the alias of Whitney Ewing. Unfortunately his last known whereabouts is in Maccurdy City. I’ve lost contact with my spy there and it’s a big spaceport. I need you to go there and make sure he is still there. Unfortunately, due to the security of the station, we cannot attempt to take him out there, but he will leave eventually, and then we’ll nab him. Please go there confirm he is still onsite before we talk about the next operation.

Task: Confront Whitney at Maccurdy City
You pilot federation type aren’t supposed to think too hard into the mission. You are supposed to have loose morales and do what you’re told. Of course I’m working for a separate organization; seriously, any galactic power would just destroy the evidence, not take samples of every piece that’s needed to recreate it. Go ahead, draw your gun on me. This ain’t anarchy here. There is a government with real consequences to breaking the law, and the security force here is top notch. Besides, I’ve been audio masking all of our conversations so you’ve got nothin’ on me. Get out of here before you get yourself in trouble. Honestly though, I’m surprised you even figured it out. How did you? Sure…now Mr. Accusatory walks away.

Incoming Message: It’s me again. Thanks for the information; I dispatched a ship to scan every vessel leaving the city. We’ll take care of him when he flees…and he will flee. Now I need you to take out one other high-priority target. We don’t know the actual identity of him or her, but goes by “The Architect.” This person is the head honcho, the lead man, and the mastermind behind the Dark Sparta attacks on us, spy network for this operation, and knows all the ins and outs of our research with a mind bright enough to be able to replicate our work. Our spies have learned he recently left Sousa’s Manufacturings, which I suspect is where they are holding the materials they stole from us, and headed to Einstein Crest orbital installation. However, The Architect made a pit stop to help with some problem at Joo Biochemical in Coriabog, where he still is. I need you to go there and take him out, but quietly. Avoid getting scanned and setting off alarms at all cost. We will begin targeting their facilities next after our spies uncover as much information as they can, and don’t want them to find the bodies until our attacks have begun. The Architect will be one of the few researchers there with level 3 clearance. To be sure we got the right one, take out all researchers at that clearance level.

Mission 12:

1) Assassinate all Level 3 Researchers and Scientists at Joo Biochemical Assembly on Coriabog 1 D

**This mission fails if you are successfully scanned by military personnel, even if it comes up clean.
**This mission fails if alarms are raised.

Bonus:

1) Do not kill anyone other than the mission targets
2) Do not alert anyone to the level of civilians drawing their guns (even if not fired) or Military personnel turning on shields.
Incoming Message: Congratulations on the successful mission. We have 3 priorities for you. Firstly, you will need to steal the sample back that they stole from us. It’s being held at Sousa’s Manufacturings in Coriabog. I need you to bring it to me at Svavarsson Terminal in Apalar so we can restart our program. Without it, we have no hope. Once you bring it to me in Svavarsson Terminal, I’ll give you the last 2 targets and then we can start talking about a promotion within our ranks. For this mission, just don’t set the alarms off. I don’t want them notifying their installations we need to attack afterwards. If you’re really good, you’ll steal the power regulator without them knowing otherwise, to really delay any transmission they send. When you return to the terminal, I’ll have an associate waiting for you behind the bar at the main concourse. Give them the sample.

Mission 13:
1) Steal the Sample from both Sample Containment Units at Sousa’s Manufacturings in Coriabog. One is the real sample and one will be used as a fake.
2) Obtain a Rocket Launcher. Go to an uninhabited planet in an uninhabited system, land, disembark. Drop the “Real” Sample and use the rocket launcher to destroy it. [Note: It won’t actually do anything, but go ham on it anyway]
3) Bring the “Fake” Sample to the bartender at Svavarsson Terminal.

**This mission fails if the alarms at Sousa’s Manufacturing goes off.

Bonus:

1) Use an E-Breach on the Alarm system to ‘permanently’ disable the alarms before collecting the samples.
2) Do not kill anyone before stealing the second sample.
3) Steal the power regulator from the PWR building without killing anyone until it’s in your backpack.
Incoming Transmission: My contact informed me you met and gave him the sample. We will move it to a safe and secure facility for testing. Your deeds have been very helpful and we are indebted to you. We now have a couple more missions for you to ensure Dark Sparta cannot reproduce our weapon or easily retaliate. Firstly, go to Einstein Crest orbital installation in Wikatabar and take it out. This is where they are storing all of their research data that must be erased. Secondly, destroy Alpha Naval Centre. They are keeping some of their stolen materials there until they are further along in their research. Also this is one of their military headquarters and taking it out will alleviate retaliatory responses. I’ll be hiring local pirate gangs to help assist in the attack; you can work with them or just use them as distraction, doesn’t make a difference to me. Do these things and we can be assured that Dark Sparta will have no materials or data left on Snake Juice. However, if you are feeling especially…loyal…and looking for a little extra action, we could use someone to Eradicate and Destroy Pyeon’s Arsenal on Coriabog 2 A. This is also a large military settlement that secretly houses the head of a crime syndicate in the area that constantly causes us grief, let alone all the non-anarchy factions in the area.

Mission 14:

1) Attack Einstein Installation.
2) Destroy all Power Nodes
3) Power Capacitors. (Note: Power Capacitors are bugged and stop taking damage after about a second of being attacked, and therefore can only be brought to 0% health by doing instantaneously large damage such as from Plasma Accelerators or Ramming. For this mission requirement, you only have to bring the Power Capacitors to a “damaged” state where it can’t be further damaged.)

Bonus:

1) Fully Destroy all Power Capacitors (get them to 0% health) by dealing heavy instantaneous damage (PA’s, Ramming, etc)
2) Destroy all Installation Defense Turrets
3) Succussfully aid the attacking forces and winning the battle for them (at least 1 time, if the battle restarts multiple times)
Incoming Transmission:
This Sample you gave us is bogus! What do you think you are trying to do, scam us? Who are you working for? If I find out this is intentional, I’ll hunt you down and kill you myself! Get us the real stolen sample or I’ll put a bounty on y----
“Transmission Blocked”

Mission 15:
1) Attack Alpha Naval Centre in Wikatabar.

“Hmmm, if I destroy that last settlement, apart from helping Apalar Black, it could really assist the good systems nearby. Maybe I’ll consider actually doing that.

Extra Mission:
1) Exterminate all personnel at Pyeon’s Arsenol at Coriabog 2 A
2) Destroy any System Defense Force and System Authority Vessels flying above the city
3) Remove the Power Regulator.

Bonus:
1) Destroy all Skimmers, Goliaths, and other Drones hovering above the settlement.
2) Kill at least 1 on-ground person with your ship, 1 with an SRV, and 1 on-foot yourself.
Thanks for playing through this! I hope this gave some meaning to your gameplay and a "reason to do this certain thing I've never bothered doing" feeling. Hopefully you had fun! And maybe you are inspired to create a narrative of your own ;-) Let me know what you thought! Maybe I'll create more, not sure yet. Until next time...

EDIT: Updated Mission 2 (I had accidentally copy+pasted an older/shorter version with only the first step)

Kicking this off in a few minutes. Well done Cmdr o7

Mission 1 Update:

Star Date 14 June 3307, 10:09am
Mission one was a sad event, I arrived at Wacera Spa, but alas Pirates had beaten me to the location and the inhabitants alas were terminated for what little spoils the pirates could take. Data recovered since the pirates did not seem interested in any data ports!.

On foot shoulder cam footage proof for pirate activity on arrival. Have reported casualties to local authorities for body removals and clean up crews.

Apparently settlement states change frequently... more than weekly. I changed 2 settlements cuz they went to war.
While i do wish this could be more consistent, at least it adds diversity for these missions! Im hoping most stay the same tho.

Good work on mission 1! I wonder if the pirate activity was caused by me farming opinion polls there haha

Wrinkles are better than immutable scripts anyways.
And look at it this way - we can come back a year from now and potentially have a completely new adventure.

I tried. Can't pass Mission 2 - Part2. I think I passed Part 1, but is hard to know if I got full scan. Silent running is not working as I thought. :(

I've never interacted much with installations, so I'm not sure about the mechanics. Silent running + heatsinks does not make "invisible", so I get wanted, and then the missiles start hitting and that's it.

Yea generally you will know if scanned...the authority will say something like "move along" and pirates will be like "you got nothing in your hold, what a waste of time".

For those stuck, here how to do mission 2

The first part, you just need a quick ship to get in, scan, and get out of the no-tresspass zone quickly. Then use limpets from outside. Do the whole thing either in Silent Running or maintaining <15% heat and stay greater than 500m from npcs.

For the second part, really the trick is to maintain <15% heat and stay >500m away from anyone. Silent Running+hull reinforcements makes it easy, as externally you are seen as if you are at 0% heat, just bring some heatsinks and a relatively cool Running ship like dbx (doesn't need engineering). Also using a fast ship will help.

Stay in Silent Running or under 15% heat. And then also keep more than 500m from any npcs.

These are definitely meant to be somewhat of a challenge and many missions will take multiple attempts. Be open to trying new strategies, equipment, and ships! Hope you have fun!
