The Pilot Federation Ranks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there seems to exist a ranking system that's not displayed in the console and never talked about.

After I got Elite status as an explorer, I got a permit to Shinrarta Dehzra. It's the system where the "Pilot Federation" has its HQ. Now, this "faction" not only has rep scores, but I've gotten several screen notices that I've been ranked up for "The Pilot Federation", and now I suddenly found out there was a mission from them that requires the rank "Founder" (which I apparently isn't since it won't let me take it). Also, I have started to get a lot of "Tip Off" missions in my message view, and it seems like they also rank me up in this mysterious ranking. Can't remember what it told me last time, but it didn't match the other ranks that I currently have. The weird thing is that it doesn't come as a message in the message screen, but as the popup text in the middle of the screen for a few seconds.

Am I nuts or is this something new, secret, or what?

Founder was a Kickstarter pledge level that was meant to have various other perks which eventually never made it to the main game, all that is left is the occasional mission and a decal.

Indeed, they are just a Minor Faction. You gain or lose rep with them just like any other Faction. The Founder bit is just a minor title that has no real meaning in game, so it's okay to ignore it.

No. It wasn't "Friendly", "Cordial", and those ranks, and those show up in the message board like "You have gained reputation Friendly" or something like that, but it was a text like the blue text after scanning in the middle of the screen saying something like that I had gained the rank of "Expert" or something (it was a while ago) for the "Pilot Federation". So it wasn't the normal message, and it wasn't just "Federation" but specifically The Pilot Federation, and it wasn't one of the friendly rep levels. It's too bad that I didn't take a photo of it, but it was up only for a few seconds. I haven't seen anything after that, but it's been bugging me for a while, so I just wanted to check if someone knew something.

Strange that they left that as a requirement for some missions though. Only pledgers in kickstarter can do those missions?

Later today, I will try to find one of those missions again and take a picture. (I hope they're not gone now, because they y'all think I'm crazy. LOL!)

However, I do think this might be some code left in the game from early development that didn't go any further. Some early ranking system that didn't make the cut.

I thought so too when it popped up, but it didn't match whatever rank I had at the time. The popup said something like "Competent", I think, but the panel showed I was 20% or something Expert.

Well, I don't know. Perhaps it was just a fluke or bug in the program and not a feature. Or as my programming buddies used to say, "A bug is just an undocumented feature." LOL!
