"The Pilots Federation are not who they seem."

Good day, commanders.

I am intrigued by a branching mission update I just had. I needed a temporary break from my general game-plan as a commander and flew to LFT 926 to do a few missions for the Pilots Federation for the afternoon.

Normally this text is one of just a few variations but I did not recognise this particular text. Instead, it intrigued me.

Is this a common alternate text? Is this NPC referring to the Dark Wheel?

Unfortunately this may be just a simple case of mission/text randomization scripts, but if it isn't tho....

Sadly, I think this is just a case of ''[Mission_Giver_Name] is not who they seem!''
I would really like if I am wrong, though.

I do - sadly - get the feeling that it's just a quirk of the text generation but when there's talk of the Pilots Federation and the Dark Wheel you can perhaps understand my intrigue :)

Curiously, I am unable to complete the mission. When I try and hand it in I get an error; however, I was able to complete another mission I was running concurrently. A relog has not altered this. Damn these quirks, awkwardly-timed bugs and their ability to intrigue!

I am so hoping to see some really interesting stuff regarding the Pilot's Federation and The Dark Wheel with the mission system overhaul coming in 1.3. Only time will tell, and here's hoping :)

Time will tell. In the mean time you can pick up missions for the pilots federation at LFT 926 if you're not able to access the founders system

Since there are two "The"s, it certainly seems like a random quest text generation thing. Doesn't mean we can't run with it. The Pilot's Federation is INRA, clearly! <foreboding music>

If we are members of a dark and sinister organisation, I'll start to pay attention. Haven't been to the Founder's world yet. It's out of the way. Discount or not. ;)

The Pilot's Federation does have a near-monopoly on interstellar communication via their control of the GalNet - that's part of the reason why there are actual, physical dead-drops in the age of vast cosmic distances and super-luminal travel and ansible transmissions - you can't trust electronic message to be completely secure, or not to have subtly reworded in a crucial place...

If there's going to be one group in the galaxy who are the Illuminatiof Elite, the the Pilot's Federation certainly fits the bill...
