I can't sample any plants on planets or i immediately drop to the main menu with the above error. Everything else seems to be working fine.

The Pink Viper got me once too, but a course of antibiotics cleared it right up.
Been 10 days and still cant sample any organic matter. Anyone have any ideas?
I had it for the first time today. It happened when I tried to scan a species id already scanned and sold. After the Pink Viper, things returned to normal.
Are you trying to scan the same species, or does this happen every time?
