What is truly heartbreaking is that this evil pirate lord had a buddy with him that sat there doing nothing. And the buddy was in a second anaconda! I guess the pirate lord was so evil that even his friends wanted to see him fall.

The way bounties work, a pirate could have bounties in the millions on his head, and simply jump one system away, and presto, he's no longer wanted. I'm certain that was the case here. Judging by his paintjob, no doubt this guy has slaughtered thousands of victims.
