The point of seemingly useless ships.

I'm talking about the Federal Dropship and Orca. For their price, they don't seem to come with a whole lot. Am I missing something with them or will they be more relevant in the future? Like adding missions for troop deliveries to conflict zones or taking civilians on a galactic cruise. I wonder if ship luxury would be an actual stat lol. Do these ships have any merit right now or will things be added later to flesh those ships out?

I would honestly be exited for just about anything being added to this amazing but very bare game. And I'm looking forward to whatever FD decides to put out.

Passenger transport has been talked about long before release, sadly not in there yet. So at the moment, yes they're not so good vs value.

Yes, they are plans for passenger liners, where the Orca will come in. I myself was a bit disappointed that it didn't make it into the release. Can't really find the posts anymore after the restructure, but how it should work in future is that you buy modules that turn your cargo hold into passenger cabins with different degrees of comfort, and can accomodate passangers. Not all ships will be able to fit those modules, the Orca was one of the few ships that will be able to fit more luxurious modules. For the time being, the only reason the Orca is so expensive is because it looks awesome and from what I heard when NPC Orcas passed me, because it's so quiet.

As for the Fed Dropship.. that thing is full of weapon slots, so I guess you could make the argument for a very big pirate ship with a decen cargo hold and more weapons then you will ever need.

Totally agree!
I feel there's been an upgrade from all of my ships so far.
Cobra - Type 6 = cr/hr
t6- Asp = >cr/hr AND combat
Asp - type 7 = cr/hr
Type 7 - Clipper = slightly more cr/hr and soon a great combat/hauler combo!!!

Where next? Mini fleet and then PYTHON!!!!
