Horizons The Politics of Elite Dangerous

Greetings,

Robigo was currently nerfed as well as many other issues including ships, equipment and missions over the years and so on. Given the last balance the best profits have changed and appears to require more combat in War Zones with missions taking out one side. Thus it does seem that there is a direction the Devs want to take in the game which also changes often per views on the Forum. It seems that they often miss those who don't complain much until it is too late. How they decide this (a total guess on my part) is keeping the game interesting but also paying the bills to get more players. Sounds reasonable.

The problem is PvE versus PvP trying to keep it balanced on one side and interesting and profitable on the other! It is like in the USA trying to get the Republicans (let's say PvE) and Democrats (PvP) to work together! If it doesn't fit their view then no one is listening to the other side! Each has too much invested and doesn't want to lose it. Understanding this principle then one can see how the game will progress. The bad news is that we don't have a virtual government where we as players can elect representatives given their positions and give us a satisfaction for awhile. The good news is that neither side will ever totally dominate the playing field. But as we have seen this is not always the case in favor of PvP.

It is after all a virtual world government FD developed which actually approximates some of the free world ones. Their decision was that we as players decide the results but they keep manipulating game play in the background rather than letting it play out! That darn balance thing. They could of had a lot less headaches with an offline version not allowing it to go into Open Play but they took on the challenge and time will tell if they got it right. No other game even comes close to what FD took on or would ever consider it.

Maybe we should have one Dev totally into PvE and another with PvP fighting it out on a live stream discussion with a moderator! Sort of like the news media with politics on both sides of the pond we have all suffered though (Brexit). It won't change anything. Just an idea. They don't even have to believe in their positions just put on a great show! They have plenty of forum comments to work their side of a great debate! You'll probably get more hits on that one with all the others combined! Could be fun! :)

Regards
