The Poor State of PvE Combat

The attached video shows it all really but for those that didn't watch it, the basic concept is that I rammed NPCs to death for their bounties. They did not fire back, they did not react, they did not engage me despite losing. While the ship I use is fully engineered it is not required as the same effect can be achieved with unmodified bi-weave shields and two or more boosters.

With at least some of the NPC's, it looks like their "scan target" behavior is too high a priority. Most of the ships you killed were trying to scan you, scan another ship, or already engaged in combat. Either way, damage from collisions should aggro the other ship after the second time.

That doesn't say anything about the state of PvE combat. It's just demonstrating a specific issue where NPCs don't recognise ramming as an attack.

It's like posting a video of a suicide station gank to support the claim that PvP combat lacks depth. Exploiting a flaw in the game to skip the actual combat isn't a commentary on combat in either context.

Nothing else to be said here. Mods pls close the thread.

OP, you could be right about PvE being in a poor state (I personally don't think that's the case) but you need more than one issue to make your point. Like the others said, all you've done here is point out one particular exploit.

Sorry, but your thread title seemed to indicate something actually being wrong with 'combat'...

But this is a "Hey look at the bug I've found" and not related to combat at all, but the fact that combat is not triggered in npc's upon ramming?

I do hope you've created a bug report as well rather then just this post?

Agreed. OP needs to raise a bug in the appropriate thread.

But... that does say a wee bit about PvE, actually...

True. It says a *tiny* thing about PvE combat. It does not mean PvE is in a "poor state".

Just because Google doesn't always understand the user's search request doesn't mean Google search is in a 'poor state'.

The OP found a bug. Congrats! Raise it in the appropriate thread.

While ram=aggro seems like a good idea. It would have been very entertaining when the cops were regularly ramming when scanning at stations.

What is your Elite combat rating? It is easy starting out but as your rating increases so does the skills of the NPCs. It is currently well balanced for all players.
