The positive 2.2 thread

I am annoying the rest of my wing saying over and over how fantastic this is.
I struggled to find an appropriate place to pour out my absolute delight at flying the Tiapan, seeing my baby flying beside me when I do, the station interiors, ship transfer, module transfer.
This is a bit sad, so I made a thread instead.

I can't say enough how proud I am of you and how much more alive the game feels with what you have done with this update.
Thank you FDev. Please keep doing it, and please don't listen to people who want to make the game easier, or complain all the time about costs and time expense.
This is turning into the game I hoped it would, the game I waited all my life for and I am with you all the way.

* I for one would like to see more money sinks. We are rich and bored - in a manner of speaking.

You get rep just for this

Lots of positive improvements in this one, IMO.

One of my favorites is the new witchspace effect. As a Oculus user it's particularly nice. The planet textures/LOD is very welcome and the bases on planets are very very nice. New station interiors are certainly refreshing. I haven't played since March so there's a LOT of positive for me.

Xbox gpp cmdr here. Absolutely love this update. So many improvements! The seamless transfer between jumps alone has me giddy. Loving my beluga ( after a bit of engineering) and my fighters. Can't find anything to hate on myself.

Some people would hate on free money. Just who they are. Which is sad.

Liking it so far, lots of new stuff and changes. The changes on the Coriolis starports are really nice!

Saw a few things that might be bugs or glitches and reported them :)

Don;t like the instakill when scanned by a surface base. Makes wanted passengers 100 percent not worth it. Other than that and some mission payout issues, seems like a positive update.

Couldn't agree more!

Once I updated the game, I did experience 2-3 disconnections. But I didn't take it to heart.. there was likely hundreds of thousands of people logging in and all playing at once!

The updates to witchspace is absolutely amazing! It looks gorgeous, I like how the ships realigns with the incoming star ahead. Very nice feature!

I've been playing around with the Imperial Fighter, and oh my gosh! That thing is so damn fast, so agile, and surprisingly packs a nice little punch considering it's size! Naturally, once someone is able to actually get a lock on me, it doesn't take much to knock out those thrusters and send me hurling through space with no way of stopping. Although, the silence was a mix between welcoming and daunting. Almost like I was stuck floating through space in my little iFighter for an eternity!

Overall, FDev have done a bloody magnificent job with Guardians. It's a lot more then what my expectations were. I love it!

Fly safe, Commanders! o7

Agreed, personally I took the imperial fighter instead of the taipan with me on my exploration trip because it has th best maneuverability of the bunch.

Enjoyed the new station interiors as well, almost kinda sad that the next I'll be seeing is a while away. The new FSD animition is awesome, looks really seamless when dropping into a new system.

Basically everything that isn't a brand new gameplay element is bloody amazing. Fighters are a 'lil buggy and the passenger missions seem to be designed with little thought. Still a net positive for 2.2! Lots of little QoL updates that just make the game much more fun.

FDev just needs to work on that polish... *Stares at the bottom left corner. version number watermark plain as day. How the f--*

I got "stuck" with the Bedpan because it was all I could find without jumping all over the map, and frankly, I wanted to get back to what I was doing before the update, before I really start playing with all the new toys.
Though I have made some use of the new stuff - storing and transferring modules, some refitting of ship because, well, they can be refit with better things, even hauled a couple passengers because, well, they were going where I wanted to go, so, hop in, and if you're traveling to forget, please remember to pay in advance.

But I love shiny new things, even if I don't play with them right away. I also found a fair number of hiccoughs, and a bug or two that makes me question what the beta was even for, if these issues made it right into live, other than to suck some money from people who refused to wait for new toys - because every other game I've ever done beta testing for has not charged for it, and well, I'm not going to pay for it, especially since the beta saves get wiped, it's kind of pointless to me to pay to volunteer my time, which I could otherwise be billing out at $110/hr to figure out what the alpha testers missed in-house.

But I digress... What I have seen that is working correctly I am liking. I've already found a few things that could be improved - like this:

But overall, it's a good start!

I am anxiously awaiting the end of my work day...

Have been on a bit of an ED hiatus for the past couple of weeks while my X52 Pro HOTAS was being replaced under Warranty Repair. As fate would have it, the replacement arrived in yesterday's post. She's all setup and ready to go, my Guardians update completed installing at about 2AM this morning so i've been counting the hours at work today before I can get back into some ED.

Loving the wide range of positive feedback so far, which is just making me want it even more... But still fascinated by a lot of the negative reactions out there. Tho it seems to me, if you analyse the vast majority of the negative feedback out there you soon realise it is overwhelmingly the manifestations of the impatient and ignorant. I particularly enjoyed the numbnut who has proclaimed that 2.2 is disastrous for Python Pilots, moaning that he can't find passenger bays, can't launch fighters and can't hire crew, therefore why does his Python have a Co-pilot seat... FML. All praise to those who attempted to provide cogent intelligent and informed explanations, but wow he's just not having any of it.

I love ED, I have enjoyed the Horizons and Engineers episodes and i can't wait to get my hands on some Guardians gameplay. A preemptive congrats to the FDev team who i'm sure will keep working their butts off for the good of this game.

Fly Safe Commanders.:D

People will still find things to complain about, unfortunately.

I understand some of the complaints, especially about issues that have been in the game a while and haven't been addressed yet, but for the most part this update is really good. Ship launched fighters are genuine fun. Even if they are not the best for PvP, combat zones, or RES. I choose fun over min-maxing any day.

So many positive things in this update.

My only dissapointment was that Jameson Memorial didn't have one of the new interiors.

The fact that one of the main topics of contention today is about the placement of a UI element also indicates to me that those who enjoy a good moan are struggling to find something to moan about. (I won't count the ship transfer topic because that is now a dead horse that has been going for months)

Kudos FD!

That is exactly right!

People can find a flaw in the most perfect of diamonds. No game will ever be perfect, it would take away from the flavour. Yes, 2.2 will have bugs, it will have certain features or aspects that will give you a look like a melted mud boot. But these issues can all be sorted, that's why we have a Dev Team. I'd rather provide feedback on the things I like first and foremost. FD have been working tirelessly on Guardians, and I praise them for it! It's hard to find a Dev Team this committed and loyal to a game and it's player base in this day and age. Look at Star Citizen, that has cash grab written all over it.

I love the new features of Guardians, it's one step closer to the end goal of Horizons, and gives the game a lot more "feeling". Voice acted crew members adds to the immersion greatly! Flying my Imperial Fighter around, taking out pirates and criminals, then hearing over the Comms that the mothership is under attack.. Brought me chills the first time. I've never boosted so fast in my life, to safe my pilot and my ship.

People need to start looking at the bigger picture, and not just the Python's cabins.. Or the fact the refuel button is a "painstaking" 3 clicks away. They need to start looking at what Guardians actually brings to the game! Imagine a wing of military grade ships, each with their own small squad of fighters, battling it out in a Conflict Zone. A glorious sight I hope to behold soon! This opens up so many new confrontations in the game! For the pirates, for the traders (I am loving my ole' Keelback, despite the hate she gets), for the Player Police.. Everyone, really.

I browsed through the passenger missions, which ironically, are also getting hated on.. The potential profits are MASSIVE. I seen a mission that would net 17 million just to take a few passengers on a nice cruise, which would allow you to take in the sights of some beautiful locations, and make a boat load of money for it.. What's not to love!?

A huge shoutout to all those involved with Frontier! The Dev Team, the forum Moderators, the beta testers and the community. I thank you all for bringing the latest update live to Elite: Dangerous. Fantastic work!

Commander Troutman, out.

I'm liking a lot of things that 2.2 added or alter in the game. Really too many things to list because it's a lot of little things that collectively are pretty cool.

One of my favorites so far is something many have asked to be fixed for awhile. My Asp Explorer looks like she's taveled halfway across the Milky Way.... because she has. [squeeeee]
